Mr. Robert S. Mueller III
Director
Federal Bureau of Investigation
935 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, DC 20535-0001

Dear Dear Director Mueller:

On Sept. 26, the FBI sent out letters assuring us that you will not tolerate retaliations against Agent Rowley and implying that this applies to others who expose wrongs by FBI personnel. It also said that the Justice Dept. Inspector General had been asked to make a study and recommend reforms, but apparently nothing has come of this. In the meantime, on Oct. 27, 60 Minutes revealed that Sibel Edmonds was fired for having exposed wrongdoing in the FBI’s translation unit by her superiors and by another translator, Jan Dickerson, who was allegedly helping a Turkish agent who was under FBI surveillance. Was Jan Dickerson fired? If the whistleblower, Ms. Edmonds, was the only person to be punished, the message you are still sending to your staff is that they don’t need to fear being exposed by colleagues who have the courage and integrity to report wrongdoing they observe in the office.
