Dear Mr. Friedman:
I see that you are grooming George Stephanopoulos to become the sole anchor on “This Week.” I am very concerned about his credibility and integrity. On Sept. 11, when he was on-camera with Peter Jennings talking about the events of that terrible day, he commented that it wasn’t necessary for Pres. Bush to fly to Offutt Air Force Base to find a secure situation room. He said there was a secret situation room in the White House that had great communications facilities, and he knew about it because he attended a meeting there in the wake of the TWA Flight 800 bombing. Has he ever said why he called it a “bombing” and why it occasioned a meeting in the secret situation room? I believe that if you pressed him, he would have to admit that the discussion that night was about the plane being struck by a missile. How can we trust him to report the truth when he is sitting on this and other Clinton cover-ups? You should make him come clean.
