Dear Mr. Westin:
When ABC News hired George Stephanopoulos it no doubt placed a high value on the knowledge he acquired as a White House official. On Sept. 11, he used that knowledge in commenting on camera about President Bush using the situation room at Offutt Air Force Base. Telling Peter Jennings that there is a situation room in the White House that is equipped for telecon-ferencing, he said, "In my time at the White House it was used in the after-math of the Oklahoma City bombing, in the aftermath of the TWA Flight 800 bombing." This suggests that he knows that a fuel-tank explosion did not cause the TWA 800 crash. He should explain the word "bombing" and his claim that a meeting about this crash was held in the situation room.
Please have Brian Ross find out when and why the meeting was held. The answers may reveal the real cause of the TWA 800 crash.
