The DEMs (House) stimulus bill does not sufficiently address

(1.) the direct creation of jobs a la an updated WPA and CCC model (and how about cash incentives or tax credits for each new job created);

(2.) mandating E-Verify to be sure newly available jobs go to American citizens;

(3.) mandating mortgage modifications including cram-down, rate-reduction and term-extension (and adding partial government guarantees);

(4.) reducing or stopping foreclosures (as in 3.) to reduce the slide in home values and the loss of equity by homeowners;

(5.) measures to financially assist the self-employed and (very) small businesses to survive the recessionary period;

(6.) measures to incentivize the buying of motor vehicles from the American Big-3, e.g., a cash bounty or tax credit; and,

(7.) measures to limit the importation of foreign goods and/or services that duplicate American-made goods or services.

I believe we NEED an economic stimulus program, but I’m no fan of Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid - and I’m totally disappointed in the program that has come out of the House.  It appears to be nothing but a list of pet-project appropriations prepared by the lefty loon minority in the DEM party - and if the Senate and Obama do not make some significant changes to more directly (and immediately) accomodate JOBS and FORECLOSURES - then we are in for a long, hard row to hoe!

WHERE ARE THE REAL AMERICANS

Re: Post 2;

“REAL AMERICANS”?

Do you mean “real” Red “Americans” or “real” Blue “Americans”?

The extreme level of ideological partisanship ushered in as a result of the congressional elections of 1994, furthered through “anti-Clintonism”, and (maybe terminally) expanded by the “my way or the highway” philosophy of the recently departed administration - - may have done away with the “real Americans” of decades past.

We may now be much more subject to the “Divided” States, rather than to the “United” States!
