Accuracy in Media

Bleacher Report, a sports website owned by the parent company of CNN, TNT and TBS, is not sticking to sports.

Sportswriter Mike Tanier lamented how recent anti-Trump NFL protests during the playing of the American national anthem are detracting from Colin Kaepernick’s original protest in a recent article. Kaepernick, a former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, kneeled or sat during the national anthem last season and wore socks that depicted police officers as pigs is now unemployed.

Tanier failed to mention that Kaepernick wore the pig-cop socks in his defense of the NFL athlete.

He then referred to a former Occupy Wall Street leader on why the current wave of protests could be as ineffective as Occupy Wall Street’s own protests:

A protest which becomes all about the protest itself is what Micah White calls a “constructive failure.” White, one of the founders of the Occupy Wall Street movement and author of The End of Protest: A New Playbook for Revolution, explained to me last year that Occupy got lots of attention and energized/organized many groups of activists, but it ultimately failed because there was no next step beyond pitching a tent outside a bank headquarters and yelling.

Sounds like a left-wing sportswriter was able to get a platform to defend Kaepernick while ignoring what made the former quarterback so controversial.
