Talk about an interesting statement from yesterday’s Capitol Hill hearing, where former FBI director James Comey testified about his insight into the Russia probe headed by the FBI and other subjects. Comey said that his announcement of investigating Hillary Clinton’s e-mails “ultimately” came from the unannounced meeting between Bill Clinton (Hillary’s husband) and then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch on a tarmac.
In order to protect the FBI’s credibility, Comey claimed, he had to announce an investigation separate from Lynch’s Department of Justice.
Adding to that, Lynch said that Comey should have called the e-mails investigation a “matter,” which Comey said “confused” and worried him about the phrasing. He felt that it was politicization of the FBI during a political campaign season.
