Ousting Jim DeMint was an unexpected move from the conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation, which was an important policy think tank for President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. Jim DeMint, former South Carolina U.S. Senator, has been ousted as president of the think tank in the last year of his contract.
Former Heritage president Ed Feulner is leading the candidate search to replace DeMint and it is yet to be seen who will make his shortlist.
There are a lot of rumors flying around about why DeMint was fired and who was behind it, but the end result is that a candidate search has begun and the think tank will have a president sooner rather than later.
