Instead of focusing on the divisive nature of Kaepernick’s protests, how about a more unifying choice for Citizen of the Year in Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale.
McIngvale is the Houston, Texas business owner who opened his doors to those displaced by Hurricane Harvey. McIngvale owns a mattress and furniture store chain named Gallery Furniture and his humanitarian efforts went viral as he opened the doors to those who no longer had beds or a place to stay.
