WASHINGTON — The U.S. government is going to try to de-escalate tensions in Asia as China refuses to back down from their aggressive tactics.
Reuters reported that the dispute over islands in the South China Sea have taken center stage in Asian foreign policy. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Australia this past week to discuss matters with Australian officials.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will also participate in the discussions about what the U.S. will do to respond to China.
Japan and China have rhetorically sparred over territory in the region, along with other nations in the region vicinity like The Phillippines and Vietnam.
