WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives passed a one-year extension of the country’s debt limit, which showed that the House GOP will cave when it comes to the debt limit and having American borrow more than it can pay for.
Reuters reported that the House GOP caved to President Barack Obama’s demands to increase the debt limit without any preconditions. The vote passed by a 221 to 201 margin.
The House Republican leadership claimed that this “clean” debt limit bill will help focus the country on ObamaCare in the midterm elections this November. House Speaker John Boehner tried to tie the debt limit to military pensions, but that plan failed after discussions among House Republicans.
