Like the decades-old
television game show, To Tell the Truth, it’s time for Barack Obama to
stand up and tell us exactly who he is and what he intends to do as president
now the election is over. Is he a centrist who can reach across the aisle to
Republicans, a pseudo-conservative tax cutter or a socialist who wants to
redistribute wealth?
The last few weeks of the
campaign have been revealing. Obama professes that he will cut taxes for “95%”
of all Americans, yet only about 60% of Americans pay federal income taxes. He
says anyone making under $250,000 will definitely receive a tax cut; or is it
$200,000 like he said in his infomercial? That figure may even deteriorate down
to $150,000 as Joe Biden has said. Which is it? Either way, the math doesn’t
add up. When Obama lets the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, your taxes will go up
for sure, assuming you pay income taxes.
And, when confronted with an
innocent question by “Joe the Plumber,” Obama was most candid. With his
off-the-cuff remark about “spreading the wealth around,” Joe successfully
unmasked the covert socialistic candidate for what he really is. In Obama’s
mind, when you pay no federal income taxes but receive a check from the IRS,
that’s somehow a “tax cut.” In my mind, it’s welfare under the guise of
spreading the wealth.
If you voted for Obama, then
I’m sure you’ll like his picks to replace the two most liberal Supreme Court
Justices who are expected to retire soon. Why not expand the number of Justices
on the Court and fill them with his cronies? The Constitution doesn’t mandate a
certain number. Because liberal Democrats control both houses of Congress, what
will stop them?
Obama also said that he wants
to create a “Civilian National Security Force.” At a campaign rally he said,
“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the
national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian
national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well
funded.” Can anyone explain to me what that is? He wants this new bureaucracy
to have the same funding as the Pentagon. That’s another $400-plus billion
right there. But wait! He wants to cut the Pentagon’s budget, so maybe it will
only be $300 billion more after he cuts the Department of Defense 25% as Rep.
Barney Frank says will happen with a Democrat majority in both houses of
Congress.
Either way, the concept is
scary and reminds me of a secret police force that will take conservatives to a
re-education camp for compulsory lessons on sharing, tolerance and why abortion
is a good thing.
On the energy independence front,
Obama said that the coal industry will be bankrupted because of his policy of
capping greenhouse emissions, and this would “necessarily” raise energy costs.
So you can count on higher electricity costs as well as higher taxes, because
he will not expand domestic oil drilling.
The American system allows
the opportunity for an extreme liberal, closet socialist, who has American
haters and domestic terrorists as friends, and advocates higher taxes, a weaker
national defense, direct talks with dictators, and has the middle name of
“Hussein” to be president. What a country.
At least I will have four
years of material to write about.

I am afrraid you will have far too much material to write about, although I’m not at all sure that you will be allowed to write. Growing up here in the US, I read a lot of articles from the Reader’s Digest, many of the articles were about how the USSR tortured people and suppressed the truth in places like Hungary. It is hard to believe that we have fallen so far into ignorance that we could allow this person to run for the presidency. I can’t believe that Obama could even pass a security clearance check let alone be in the White House. God help us.

God will help us but we will have to do the leg work.I am all for Armed Citizens and i will protect my family and neighbors. We cant be afraid or we will lose our freedom.

And now to quote that other great Marxist, Buddy Holly: “Rave On.”

This election just reinforced a quote I’ve loved for the last 8 years or so since Dean Koontz used it;
“Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.”

This article is a study in misinformation and disinformation.
Kudos. You’ll thrive here at AIM!

I think the real stupid people are those who don’t know who Obama is. Reading the above post gives credence that NONE of you have visited his website and read ANY of his proposed policy changes. I see you have read all the talking points from Hannity and Rush. Case and point: Obama will give a tax cut to WORKING Americans who are paying taxes. Not EVERYONE making less than $250,000. While campaigning, Palin kept asking who is the real Obama? No wonder you lost the election

Julius,
It seems that you have chosen to believe one side over the other. Why do you believe those whom you listen to…and why do you choose to disbelieve others? Just curious…

Jason
Obama appears to be the most bi-partisan of all candidates. His relationships include people from both political persuasions. Obama is very inclusive, of which can be seen throughout his campaign. He was very kind and gracious to McCain during the campaign, which said a lot about Obama. Most Americans were able to see through the lies and bias from right-wing nuts like Hannity and Rush. The Ayers smear was a joke. Ayer’s is a college professor at the University of Chicago. If he is such a unreformed terrorist, why is he still allowed to teach at a tier 1 university? And why isn’t the college and other professionals linked to terrorist like they tried to link Obama? I think for myself and formulate my own opinions about people based on facts and fair judgment.

Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid! I give O-bama a one percent chance of doing anything good for us or our country. At least, I try to have hope. “A true Republican or a True Democrat is someone who puts their party above their principles and their candidate above their conscience”. Unfortunately, if all goes as I suspect it will, at least I’ll have “I told you so” privileges to the people who put him in office…

Obama is choosing some of the most partisan insiders to be his staff, more Chicago thugs like Rahm Emanuel, who names his political opponents at a dinner and after each name, stabs the table with a steak knife, proclaiming “Dead!” after each stab. Obama has never been bipartisan, so don’t expect anything but strong-armed bullying to occur so he gets his devastating plans for our country passed through Congress.
As for his “spread the wealth” intentions, well, if you have a 401K, take a look at it. His evil buddies have already taken half off the top through Fannie and Freddie, the AIG bailout and other Democrat corruption.
Hope you don’t have to retire soon. It won’t be what you planned on.

wys-
“Hope you don’t have to retire soon. “
We hope you DO retire soon…

Gene Poole, what difference would it make to you when anyone else retires? Are you just trying to look stupid?

yeah wiz, i’m trying to look stupid. i’ll never accomplish it while standing next to the drooling likes of YOU, so i’ll move on…

Hi gang. Let’s not fight each other. O-bama and his commie, socialist, rag head gang are the real enemy! It’s time for all of us “thinking people” to band together and save our Great Country before the politicians finish her off. “Those who would forsake a little liberty for a little safety, deserve neither, liberty nor safety!”. A rough quote from Ben Franklin). Best Regards to all of us Good Americans.

Tim-
thanks for the laugh! they’re in short supply these days…

Mr. Lee ,
Im sure there is a lot of anxiety in drug warriors like yourself, but being a student of history and looking at the paralles of the 1930s
depression and prohibition, the repeal of the the CSA and a legalized and taxed drugs will be a reality. We will sve 250 billion dollars a year in savings from local, county, state and federal law enforcement, prosecutors, judges and prisons.
If the stupid five percent want to do drugs, let them. The non drug users will be relieved of the tax burden .
In addition drugs will be harder for children to get because no one will want to lose there licence.
Did you know that alcohol is harder for children to get than drugs in most high schools?
Did you know in 1914 when they passed the first dug laws usage was under 1% of the population.

What a joke! The Republicans ran deficits for 8 years and it will take the dems to clean up the mess. You should be be thankful Obama is President.

No, we fear Obama, since he is RINO times 10 as far as big government programs. Sure, the republicans failed to contain government spending, but Obama has promised to double or triple it in his four years.
You should excuse GW Bush’s deficits up to a point because he inherited a recession and put in his first tax cuts to reverse that. Then he had to deal with the trillion dollar loss from 9/11, and he did help us get over that with more tax cuts.
Where I fault Bush is his big drug bill for seniors, which cost much more than he thought it would. This should be a warning that any health insurance plan Obama threatens us with will likewise cost many times more than he estimates. This country cannot afford Obama’s enormous socialistic government.
I look at it this way. If McCain had won, we could have reversed Bush’s direction of big government, but since Obama won, we can only continue in a destructive course with an enormous deficit that can’t be canceled for decades to come.
Let’s pray Obama gets some sage advice from a conservative, and actually follows it.

Any advise Obama gets from Republicans is tongue and cheek. The Democrats is the new party of fiscal responsibility. Everything Obama does is well thought out and well planed. That is how the so-called inexperience senator did it. Obama defeated the Clinton’s in the primary and he crushed McCain in the general. Obama had McCain saying exactly what he wanted him to say through out the election. Harvard law debate 101 – Get you adversary on the defensive and add fodder for the dialog. The university of Iowa law school and Harvard have been performing the debate model for years. Brilliant
PS: Hannity and Rush added logs to the McCain roast which helped him get cooked.

Bush just carried on the democrats positions that is what was his downfall. He is a globalist and socialist just like the dems—not defending our borders and locking up Border Agents trying to enforce the law—he is a jackass just like the dems in power

marysduby
Oh like Bush and his republican administration has done anything about our borders and immigration? He has been in office for 8 years and has done NOTHING concerning illegals. What is Bush turning over to Obama? Let’s see, 10 trillion in debt, an occupation/war in Iraq, Afghanistan, broken borders, 700 billion in bailouts, housing markets in shambles, stocks in a free fall and people losing jobs all over the place. And you say Obama is a socialist? You better hope so!

Sure Bush showed his socialist side many times over. Remember this - in capitalism, you reap what you sow; in socialism, you reap what others sow.
Obama refuses to state that he would not raise anybody’s taxes, even while the markets are dropping rapidly and millions of Americans are losing their savings. He wants things to get as bad as possible, so he can jump in and use strong-arm tactics to take control over as many businesses as possible. Then he will take credit as the market rebounds, as it always does after hitting a hard bottom. Actually, he could have helped the stocks already if he cared about this country’s economy.
Back to the socialism, Obama will put in play his severe tax increases when our country is hurting to the maximum, taking all he can get from the people who are earning money and keeping the last vestiges of our free market working. Then he will attempt to give that tax money to the 95% of Americans he has promised it to. Of course, it won’t work. If he takes double taxes from that 5% who already pay 50% of the taxes, it still won’t cover even half the welfare he has promised the lower income clear up through most of the middle class.
Obama will have to extend his tax increases far down into the middle class, and that’s what has driven the massive stock sell-off recently. The people are starting to realize that they’ve been had, to put it mildly. Socialism doesn’t work once the people who are being soaked realize that they are on the wrong side of the equation.

Wysiwyg
With all respect, what you are saying does not make any sence?
It is absolutely necessary to raise taxes because you can’t continue spending money that you don’t have? Republicans say they will not raise taxes. Why? Because they are deficit spenders. Where are the real conservatives? Clinton left a surplus. Where is it now? Did McCain have a fiscal plan? No! Why not? Because he knows money does not grow on trees and if he does not tax people, where will the money come from? You can’t tax the poor and middleclass because they are hurting the most. What choices does Obama have? He will need to tap those who have money and began looking for areas to cut spending. We don’t have many choices here. Print more money? No way!

Raising taxes actually decreases the amount of revenue the government receives. When the economy is down, tax cuts increase the flow of money all the way through the lowest income levels and into the government’s coffers.
Bill Clinton raised taxes, and therefore his projected surplus never came to fruition. The “dot-com” bubble burst caused a recession late in his administration, and that’s why when Bush took office in 2001, he immediately put through a tax cut to stimulate the economy. Then before that took effect, 9/11 happened, with over a trillion dollar loss to the economy. It took three years and another tax cut to get the economy over that devastating blow.
Obama cannot raise taxes without actually causing a terrible depression. I’m sure he knows that, but he is not one who cares about anything more than his own power.
As for McCain, he was not a great economist either and actually voted along with Obama on the huge bailout mistake.
Yes, the answer is to cut spending, avoid all those enormous new spending programs Obama used to buy votes, and renew the Bush tax cuts. The market will rebound if the government doesn’t stifle it even more.

Wysiwyg
Renew the Bush tax cuts? Obama does not care about anything more than his own power? It sounds like you get you talking points from hannity and Rush! The market will rebound because nobody has any money? When was the last time you seen MAJOR banks fail? Or people loose their homes in this grand of scale? This is the closest thing to a depression we have ever seen. Have you been paying attention?

Julius Read it again-Bush just carried on the democrats positions that is what was his downfall. He is a globalist and socialist just like the dems—not defending our borders and locking up Border Agents trying to enforce the law—he is a jackass just like the dems in power——He is a Republican in name ONLY—-Have you heard of Rockefeller Repbulican—they are the same as a DEMOCRAT

marysduby
With all due respect, Bush did NOT carry on any democrat positions. The bush tax cuts for the wealthy, the Iraq war at 2.1 billion per month, Guantanamo Bay detainees, is all Bush and has nothing to do with democrat positions. What is the bottom line? 10.3 trillion deficit. After 13 years of a republican ruled congress, American had enough and voted a democratic rule about 2 years ago. Americans realize the job was not finished and voted for more democrats this past election. Bush and the republicans have not been fiscal responsible and people are tired off it.

I am not defending the Republicans.I am a Conservative.Bush spent more than the Dems.and what did the Dem.congress of 2006 do Barny dodd rains and the rest said there was nothing wrong with Fannie and Freddy. Not to mention the loan Dodd got from Countrywide—they all had their hands in the till

Henry Paulson, Allen Greenspand and the new treasure had no idea Fannie and Freddy were in such trouble. McCain even said the fundamentals of our economy are sound. The 2006 dem congress have been trying to work with Bush of fear of not being patriotic with the war and supporting our troops. You can’t blame Barney or Dodd becasue they get their info from the feds.

Most of us have seen the videos of Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters and other Dems with their hands in the till of Fannie and/or Freddie, denying that there was any trouble with them, while other Democrats, Raines and Johnson, CEOs of those financial institutions lined their pockets with fraudulently obtained bonuses based on their “cooked” financial books. Frank, Dodd, Gorelick, Obama, and others who took big payoffs from those corporations that were deep into the abyss of corrupt bankruptcy, far worse than Enron, should face criminal charges. They are totally disgusting.

A civilian armed force? All my friends are stocking up on guns and ammo as I write. I’m all for organizing the Armed American Citizens for Protection of the American Homeland, or AACPAH, or any other name that works. Buy those guns, Americans, and arm yourselves for whatever comes next!
