Why was this guy in the military to begin with?

Guest Column  |  By Randy Wyles  |  November 6, 2009

The FBI said it was not an act of terrorism.

Yes - it was!

Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a psychiatrist no less, who had been sent to Fort Hood, TX after a "poor" evaluation over a six year period at Walter Reed Army Hospital, is the man authorities say shot 30 soldiers and civilians, killing 13, in the shooting rampage at Fort Hood.

Federal law enforcement officials now say Hasan came to their attention six months ago - about the time he was being transferred to Fort Hood - after allegedly posting blogs with violent threats and praise for suicide bombers.

In one blog, Hasan equates a homicide bomber to a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

"To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause.  Scholars have paralled (sic) this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers."

You know, I have had the honor of working with some bright and courageous federal agents in my time - good people who believe in what they do.  But when the Bureau puts out a statement like that - saying this was not an act of terrorism - I have to just shake my head and wonder; just what was somebody in D.C. thinking?

"Enemy soldiers?"  He was talking about the American military.  And the feds say he only "came to their attention" after those posts - an Arabic military doctor serving in the U.S. Army writing those words - and no one looked into it?  I'm wondering what a person has to do become more than just a blip on the Homeland Security radar.

Apparently, one must look like a non-Muslim American in a hurry to catch a flight and trying to get through security - preferably someone's elderly great aunt, hobbling along in a walker or, perhaps, a well known member of Congress.  Heaven help us if we should offend, say, a Middle Eastern male, disguised as a Muslim woman wearing a burqa, trying to get his C-4 stuffed tennis shoes through security screening.  After all, we certainly don't want to "profile" or infringe on his "freedom" of religion; the one which teaches that Allah loves everyone - except non-Muslims who should be killed on sight.

The fact is, Nidal Malik Hasan is a Muslim terrorist. We are in a war fighting Muslim terrorists.  So, why is he still in the Army and why was he sent on to Fort Hood after poor evaluations at Walter Reed, especially after he came to the feds' attention?

Because we don't want to "profile".

Let's forget about the fact he is of Middle Eastern descent.  There are a lot of Arabs living here and they are upstanding people - just like there are a lot of fine Irishmen here and heaven knows there are plenty of IRA terrorists; people who are just as evil - and cowardly - as any Middle Eastern terrorist.

But posting blogs about violence and praising Muslim suicide bombers who kill "enemy soldiers"?  Active duty military aren't even supposed to campaign for politicians.  This guy's heralding suicide bombers.

Neighbors say he had been selling all of his furniture, handing out copies of the Koran and had painted the name "Allah" on his door.

Come on, how many red flags do you need?  At the very least someone should have said that the man's in violation of the Military Code of Conduct for his activity, had him booted out the military and turned the information over to the feds - who, of course, already knew about him.

In other words, disarm the weapon and get rid of it.

But we are a "politically correct" nation with a "president" that has spent most of his time emboldening Muslims around the world with his acerbic rhetoric proclaiming how bad we Americans are for being Americans, giving Muslims the justification they need to murder their own family members; like Muslim fathers who "honor kill" their own wives and daughters -or in this case soldiers and civilians - all in the name of Allah.

It will continue.
