Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton made the list for some of the biggest Pinocchios of 2015, according to Washington Post Fact Checker Glenn Kessler.
To make the list, Kessler focused only on the individuals or events that had earned the dubious honor of four Pinocchios, making for a list that included Republicans and Democrats alike.
Trump earned three mentions on the list for his claims that he saw “thousands of Muslims cheer in New Jersey as the World Trade Center fell,” “The Mexican Government is forcing criminals, drug dealers and rapists into the United States,” and that “Obama plans to admit 250,000 Syrian refugees” into the U.S.
Clinton earned a mention for her statement that “DOMA had to be enacted to stop an anti-gay marriage amendment to the U.S. Constitution,” and narrowly missed making the list for her claims about her emails, which earned three Pinocchios on two different occasions.
Others who made the list included President Obama, Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Secretary of State John Kerry, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and the now infamous and discredited “Hands up, don’t shoot” phrase that became the mantra of the Black Lives Matter movement.
