If CNN president Jeff Zucker needs any more evidence that he should shake things up at the network, he need look no further than the ratings for Piers Morgan Live this week.
On Tuesday, Morgan averaged just 50,000 viewers in the key 25-54 demo, making it his worst-rated show since May 15, 2012, when he averaged a minuscule 39,000 in the demo.
That put Morgan in fifth place among cable news shows, trailing even CNBC, which aired a program on auto theft.
Things got marginally better on Wednesday, when Morgan averaged 67,000 viewers, but the show was still in fifth place overall in the demo.
For Morgan, whose contract expires in a few months, the ratings dive probably ensures that his tenure at CNN is drawing to an end.
