The GOP frontrunner may be taking potshots at Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, but it hasn’t hurt the cable news behemoth’s ratings. The network has just set a new record for itself by finishing in first place in all of cable for the first quarter of this year.
The record was even more remarkable as it did so despite a strong quarter from TBS, which benefited from its coverage of the NCAA basketball tournament in March.
A combination of the presidential election and the Brussels terrorism attacks gave Fox News its highest-rated quarter in total day in its nearly 20-year history, averaging 1.35 million in total viewers (up 27 percent from Q1 2015) and 271,000 in the A25-54 demo (up 30 percent from Q1 2015).
CNN continued its rebound with its most-watched quarter in seven years, and MSNBC’s Morning Joe has its best quarter ever.
