The Obama administration has added anoother journalist to its payroll.
From the American Spectator
Daren Briscoe, a Newsweek correspondent who was embedded with Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, has taken a job with the Obama administration, according to an email sent to a listserv of his classmates at the Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
The email, written by Time reporter and fellow Columbia grad Jay Newton-Small, said Briscoe would be serving as deputy associate director of public affairs for the Office of National Drug Control Policy as of Monday.
"Despite his multiple basketball games with our commander-in-chief, he always brought a skeptical eye to his work and in conversations about the candidate," Newton-Small wrote the email.
Briscoe's campaign reporting helped provide the basis for Newsweek's book on the campaign, A Long Time Coming.
With the economic pressure in the media industry there will probably be a few more hires from the Obama loving media by the White House in the not too distant future.
Post #2218

The Messiah doesn’t have to HIRE anymore journalists, because they are ALL IN BED with him now.

If I was a young reporter for a monthly news magazine - and had the chance to become an associate director of public affairs for ANY federal government office or program - I’M THERE! It would be all about the pay increase, the extended benefits, the improved job security - and the networking opportunities - REGARDLESS of partisanship.

Journalistic ethics are to ethics as journalistic courtesy is to courtesy.

When Journalists stopped investigative reporting about the truth, then become Opinionists was when
Ethics were lost forever in the News.
Such as when a single death of a soldier, even by banned IEDs by the Geneva Convention as an amendment to Land Mines, was reported in all forms of MSM, of which was always reported.
Now we have the single most US Military deaths in the Month of July, the record number of these sad deaths set a single month total in the Surge into Afghanistan, has yet to be reported on any Mainstream Media.
Bush 41’s infamous “Read My Lips” speech, much as Obama made a promise he would never tax the Middle Class, seems to be yet another lie. And I am not yet including Cap and Trade, just another long stream of pledges broken. Again not a word from the Journalists “Ethics”. Perhaps the meaning of the word itself has a different meaning to so-called Ethics.

I bet you would be there, being in the Administration, you would not have to be worried about sub-par Universal Health Care. Obama asked Congress and the Senate and their aids would voluntarily join Universal Health care, a Blue Dog Democrat asked the President if he would volunteer he and his family would also volunteer. Obama replied, “I have the money to pay for quality Health Care for my family.” Although this appeared in a video, I guess “Ethics” has no room where Obama is concerned.
When a President will not follow his own suggestion, there is no reason for the rest of America to put up with it either…THAT would be Ethical.
Yet again, there is no journalistic ethics once again, since this was never reported.

Re: Post 5;
Journalism, like art, literature, fashion, entertainment, etc., is a reflection of the society and culture within which it exists. Unfortunately, today, society and culture have descended to a crass and selfish (“It’s all about ME!”) level - and tastes in journalism, art, literature, fashion, entertainment, etc. - have followed suit.
Today, there’s no accountability. There’s an excuse or rationalization for EVERYTHING - and those excuses and rationalizations are generally found to be acceptable by the masses.

What Journalism in the MSM are you referring to…to call it art is an insult to art, and is NOT a reflection of Society or Culture, it is meat to tell the People the truth about news, period, and I am speaking strictly about news…Not all the other crap inserted into a paper.
You do make a good point about…“generally found to be acceptable by the masses.” The masses are turning away from newspapers as quickly as they would turn from an explosion.

Re: Post 7;
I didn’t say that “journalism” WAS “art” (although it is definitely more art than science).
Read the post. If you don’t understand it, see if you can get someone to help you with understanding it.
And - I’ll repeat: “Journalism is a reflection of the society and culture within which it exists.”
(And - are you even aware that in a situation where multiple interpretations are possible - “the truth” is naturally elusive?)

Some people are apparently unaware that newspapers are rapidly dying. One reason for which is the continued sickening and transparent media bias in favor of the Obamadonna Incarnate and all things liberal.
By the same note, the networks newsies and their cable puppets are nowhere in the ratings compared to Fox.
If journalism is a reflection of society, why is society turning away from it in droves?

Post 8:
TK, you included in art in your first sentence among all the other crap, and anyone who (and I quote you, “...excuses and rationalizations are generally found to be acceptable by the masses.”)
They find no truth, thus they do not buy the paper, which a donor has kept them out of bankruptcy, I would hardly call that the “Masses”. In fact, ‘the masses’ no longer read any newspaper unless it is fair…What those of us find fair is tell good and bad news on all Parties politically speaking.
I would not read the Wall Street Journal if it was a Republican Protectionist newspaper. That is what the Opinion Page is for. I want news to tell me what the WHOLE story is, not just one side, and unjustified attacks.
I mean you have to know it is bad when the National Enquirer scoops the NYT. Before I married my wife (getting close to our Golden Anniversary), that there are only two things I would never put up with, they were; Cheating on me, and Buying the National Enquirer (jokingly maybe…lol))

Re: Post 9;
1.) Fox News is as biased towards the right as MSNBC is to the left; Fox News “viewership” is higher than MSNBC’s and CNN’s - because the so-called “liberal” viewers are SPLIT between MSNBC and CNN. Combine the viewership of MSNBC and CNN - and Fox comes in a fairly distant second.
2.) Newspapers are “dying” (although, they’re not) because a.) of the general effects of the recession; b.) loss of classified advertising due to the Internet; c.) loss of large display ads - because their biggest advertisers, i.e., car dealers, department stores, and realtors - are struggling to avoid going down the tubes - they can’t afford the advertising - and the public isn’t buying, anyway.
3.) Your comment: “...If journalism is a reflection of society, why is society turning away from it in droves?...”
Younger generations no longer rely on traditional radio, TV or the reading of newspapers and/or magazines as basic, traditional sources of their “news” or “entertainment” programming - - due to the growth of the Internet and the plethora of electronic devices available allowing them to connect to their favorite and (currently FREE) Internet at almost any time they wish - - THEREFORE - - radio listenership, TV viewership and newspaper and magazines readership have all declined - - being kept alive only by Seniors and the older half of the Baby Boomers. Consequently, “traditional journalism” is in decline - while so-called “news” websites, blogs, and the Facebooks, MySpaces, abnd Twitters of the Internet expand exponentially.
Blaming the decline of newspapers, magazines and TV news on “liberal bias” in journalism is malarkey. Society is quickly changing in regard to the SOURCES from which it prefers to get its “information”, “infotainment” and “entertainment” - away from paid print and broadcast media and towards free and “instant” “electronic” media with an “interactive” element.
(Note also that reading skills have been in decline in high schools and colleges for years - as have attention spans and traditional interests. Note also that most young people are “liberal” and, therefore, they might be expected to be flocking to the so-called “liberal media”, e.g., The New York Times and MSNBC - and they ARE - but they’re doing it ONLINE!)

Re: Post 11;
Do some reading in contemporary sociology - and learn something about “the masses” in America today.
(Just look at the pop culture junk the younger generations flock to on TV and in the movies! (The “Month of Michael Jackson” is a good example.) “Truth” has NOTHING to do with their tastes and preferences.)

Post 11:
I guess you did not read the Nielsen Reports I posted.
Fox News had the #1 of all 10 News Shows, The Factor has been rated #1 in it’s time slot for eight years in a row, coming up on nine years in October. He has beaten CNN, MSNBC (the lowest rated network, even lower than Current only on Cable or Satellite (Al Gore owns than channel, it is his two reporters who are being held in North Korea).
Fox Morning show beats all Cable and all Network Morning news shows.
What you have made up does not stand up to the Professionals. Fox News viewership is at 49% in the group of 18 to 25 years old, all of what I have said is according to Nielsen Rankings. Not to mention that Fox News Online is beating CNN online and MSNBC online combined, the average 14% more than those two.
Try dealing in the facts for a change.
What color is the sky in your world, anyway?

Fox viewership beats all the lefties combined! People are just plain sick of the fawning liberals and their obviously slanted reporting. Newsies speciously state that we shouldn’t blame the messenger for the message. They “forget” to point out that they are the ones who choose the messages.
If a cement-headed liberal wants dream up a thousand “reasons” why newspapers are dying, fine. Kid yourself all the way to the last going-out-of business issue. And good riddance.

Re: Post 13;
IF ALL the media EXCEPT FOX News have a “liberal bias” - obviously ALL the “liberal” viewers would be spread out among all the other media except FOX News and, consequently, while FOX News might outpoll EACH of the so-called “liberal” media on a one-by-one basis - if one adds up the viewership of ALL the “liberal” media - the total “liberal” audience would obviously be expected to be larger than FOX News’ “conservative” audience. (???)
Likewise, apparently a majority of the “voting audience” did vote “liberal” last November. (???)
Besides - most younger people are liberal - and don’t actually watch cable-TV newstalk programs. And, the 18-35 age group you specify is likely the age group least likely to vote. (???)
Also, in terms of “polling”, 30 of 50 states voted “Blue” in the last election - and the Northeast megalopolis - possibly America’s most populous area - has almost NO GOP senators, representatives or governors. (???)
In the end - who watches what cable TV channel doesn’t mean a thing to anyone for any reason except - advertisers. If you’re basing the future of the Republican Party on the viewership of FOX News - then you’re apparently really struggling to keep that party afloat!
And, obviously, if your contention is that the GOP is growing stronger as evidenced by “conservative” viewership of FOX News - then doesn’t that simply CERTIFY that FOX News IS the biased GOP “channel” in the same way you insist MSNBC is the biased DEM “channel”???
Pesonally, I couldn’t care less about the ratings among and between CNN, MSNBC and FOX News. Whatever each does is based on each’s business plan, the marketing philosophy within the niche each has chosen, and each’s concern for its own bottom line.

Re: Post 14;
In reality, the only “poll” that really counts is the one that took place last November 2nd.
Maybe the next time out, all those Fox News viewers will actually go out and vote (???)
(And, of course, MSNBC is biased and misrepresents the truth - BUT - FOX News is NOT biased and is completely objective and accurate in all that it reports?)
Talk about cementheaded.

Daren Briscoe is just the latest newsie to cross over to Obama-land. There is a revolving-door relationship between the so-called MSM and the democrat administrations.
The big BO did win sort of fair and square with a crushing 52% of the vote. He’ll probably win again if the GOP puts up another dish-water republican like McCain.
And yes, Fox is a hell of a lot less biased than the rest of them. Nobody’s perfect (as your own posts clearly reveal), however.

All I ask for is a Modicum of Fairness in the news, there are things going on each day that if not for Fox, we would never hear about. MSNBC is by far the worst, with 67 FCC Violations in this year alone (July 2008 through July 2009), and came very close to being taken off the air for being too vile, hate speech (the personal attacks on Palin went so far over the line, that N.O.W. finally threatened the station with a lawsuit, and filed a formal complaint with the FCC). The leftist reporting can be traced back to Walter Cronkite.
I am sad to say that some of those who began the one-sided reporting were Native Texans, Cronkite, Dan Rather, Sam Donaldson…Those are just a few from the old boys club. Many of Fox’s reporters and Hosts came from the Big Three News, Bret Hume, Bill O’reilly was a main investigative reporter for Cronkite, James Rosen, Brit Bear
Now the MSM will not even report on Dems who think Obama has gone too far off of his campaign message. To keep his word on a ‘no tax’ health care, he has taken $400 Billion out of Medicare, since he thinks it will not be necessary in his single payer system.
Now that the Congressional Democrats are back home and/or campaigning (and spreading B.O.‘s Health Care mission) are being hammered by an equal amount of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents going to these town hall meetings, who are outraged about ObamaCare.
The news is spinning this as all planned and orchestrated by the RNC. I am a member of the RNC, and I can tell you that we are pleased, but this kind of outpouring of dissent was not expected. They (the Networks) are calling these protesters “Mob Rule”.
What makes you know the media is spinning this, is that they too have seen polls by Rasmussen, Gallup, ABC/Wall Street Journal, and so on…All these polls are near the same regarding Obama’s Heath Care: The range of those who are currently happy or satisfied with their current Health Care is: 78% to 80%
I swear to God, I have never seen a President with such thin skin. There is a Bipartisan Bill which would not only fix our current Health Care system, but make it cheaper, higher quality, and cover those who cannot afford insurance. But Hoyer and Pelosi will not let the proposed bill even come to the floor.
John Adams - 1770
“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, or inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the State of Fact or Evidence.”
That used to be taught in Journalism from High Schools to Universities.
One other thing which has been bothering me, Al Gore owns Current TV, and was instrumental in putting the News Dept. together, those two reporters who were in North Korea work for Al Gore, yet he has not said a single word publicly about their situation. Now I am happy for the women getting home today. But, what did we give away to get them, when Al Gore asked Bill Clinton to negotiate a deal to bring them home, Clinton was adamant he would never do anything for Gore again. So, who convinced a former President to go over there and capitulate, it is very clear Clinton is not happy about this situation, but we may never really know what the trade-off is/was. Kim Jong Il does not do anything for nothing, the man has no respect for human life.

Re: Post 17;
Let’s assume your statement is correct:
“... And yes, Fox is a hell of a lot less biased than the rest of them…”
But, while Fox’ bias is hypothetically “a lot less than the rest” as you insist - would you agree that this “lesser bias” IS, in fact, a right-wing bias?
And, can “bias” really be “more” or “less”? If I “hate” extremists - while my neighbor only “really dislikes” extremists - is the neighbor really “less biased” than I am?

Re: Post 18;
(1.) You want a modicum of fairness - and are happy the MSNBC has allegedly been cited for 67 FCC violations - so, I assume that, logically, you would support restoration of The Fairness Doctrine and even greater regulation by the FCC?
(2.) “...The news is spinning this as all planned and orchestrated by the RNC. I am a member of the RNC, and I can tell you that we are pleased, but this kind of outpouring of dissent was not expected…”
So, you ARE all about “dissent” and “The Party of NO!”?
(3.) “... That used to be taught in Journalism from High Schools to Universities…”
So, we can assume you studied Journalism in high school and at the university-level because, otherwise, how would you know what was taught?
(Were those studies at the University of Missouri School of Journalism - the Columbia University School of Journalism - or the Newhouse Graduate School of Journalism?)
(4.) “...So, who convinced a former President to go over there and capitulate…”
You’re making a pure assumption here with no direct or first-hand information on the situation whatsoever. (Maybe Clinton gave Texas to North Korea! Hell, maybe we even gave them a couple of nukes so they could reverse-engineer the damned things?)

Re: Post 21;
Now, note, schmuck, I addressed a post to you - it was respectful in wording and in tone - asking a simple academic question related to your post - no politicizing - slurs - no sarcasms - no labeling or name-calling.
And you respond as the typical a**hole that you must really be!
There’s absolutely no sense trying to treat a dyed-in-the-wool loud-mouthed and rockheaded loser as a “normal” person.
Stick it, schmuck!

Post 20:
TK, why do you always put words in other people’s posts, you have no way of knowing what is in someone else’s mind, therefore you are doing the same thing you are accusing other of doing, right?
You said: “So, you ARE all about “dissent” and “The Party of NO!”?” because I said:
(2.) “...The news is spinning this as all planned and orchestrated by the RNC. I am a member of the RNC, and I can tell you that we are pleased, but this kind of outpouring of dissent was not expected…”
After all the BS from the Obama Darling media, only asking him preselected questions (which you can tell he was not only prepared for the question, but you could see him reading the answer from a Teleprompter.
Secondly, none of this was planned, most of those protesters were Democrats, many of them appeared on Fox News yesterday, and brought their Voter registration cards to prove they were indeed Democrats who had voted for those democrats.
So, yes I was pleased to see them go after the Liberals who are voting for this too expensive, and unnecessary change to Universal Health Care.
Part of what I have been talking about, the difference between Fox News and the MSM, they had Boxer, Feinstein, Reid, Cabinet members all on CBS, NBC, ABC, and their Cable Channels telling the public it was carefully thought out, and bussed those people in to those Town Hall meetings, for the videos the MSM shown were carefully edited, whereas on Fox they showed the entire videos, and ONLY one person was rude out of all four events, and he said “I voted for you, and you let me down, you lied to me, and you are a liar”.
———————
TK: “So, we can assume you studied Journalism in high school and at the university-level because, otherwise, how would you know what was taught?
(Were those studies at the University of Missouri School of Journalism - the Columbia University School of Journalism - or the Newhouse Graduate School of Journalism?)”
I needed other classes in College, so I took Journalism for two of the four years. I am sure those other colleges were still teaching Journalism the old way, that was way before Liberalism took over 98% of Professors.
TK: “(4.) “...So, who convinced a former President to go over there and capitulate…”
You’re making a pure assumption here with no direct or first-hand information on the situation whatsoever. (Maybe Clinton gave Texas to North Korea! Hell, maybe we even gave them a couple of nukes so they could reverse-engineer the damned things?)”
I have heard they leaked that Obama would take down the Missile Defense Shield stationed in Japan. I do know for for a fact that Obama is allowing a partial lifting of the sanctions.
You know what they call those who ASSUME, do you not?
And why is the MSM not talking about the message posted on the White House web page, about tuning in people who dissent against his precious Heath Care bill, perhaps George Orwell was correct after all, Big Brother wanting information on Free Speech, because they disagree…give me a break.
That is a despicable thing to do in this country.

C.Roy,
If you succeed, it would only serve to contaminate the sewage system…I guess some floaters will never go away.
John Sen. Cornyn (R-TX) proposed a Bill that if Obama’s Health Care passed, everyone in Government should also sign up his plan. He only got 21 Yeas (all Republican), during the debate on the floor, Barbara Boxer quipped “What you you serious? There no way I am giving up what I have now.” That is when they shut down the camera on C-Span.

Re: Post 23;
If YOU can’t properly write down what you REALLY mean - don’t blame me.
(1.) “...none of this was planned, most of those protesters were Democrats…”
Obviously, THERE IS NO WAY you can ascertain and corroborate that this is the case.
(2.) “...appeared on Fox News yesterday, and brought their Voter registration cards to prove they were indeed Democrats…”
And, of course, Fox News would have still put them on TV - even if they DIDN’T HAVE DEM VOTER REG cards - right?
(3.) “... Liberals who are voting for this too expensive, and unnecessary change to Universal Health Care…”
FACT: NOT YOU, nor anyone else, KNOWS what the final proposal will be. The Senate has not written its version - and when it does - it will still have to be reconciled to or compromised with the House version. (FACT: Obama DID NOT prepare a written proposal for reform - NOR the proposed 1,018 page House bill.)
(4.) “...have heard they leaked that Obama would take down the Missile Defense Shield stationed in Japan. I do know for for a fact that Obama is allowing a partial lifting of the sanctions…”
“Have heard”? Right. Like your partner who heard that “Cash For Clunkers is actually a way for the government to get into our personal computers”. Personally, at least far as politics goes, I don’t think you know very much “for a fact” at all.
(5.) “...turning in people who dissent against his precious Heath Care bill…”
“Turning in” to whom? And, then what? Burning at the stake or boiling in oil?
(Have you ever heard that the Bush administration engaged in the wholesale monitoring of private telephone calls and internet use?)

Post 26:
TK=MSM, if I don’t want to believe it, I am not going to believe it, even if I see it with my own eyes…flush, flush.
TK has yet to comment on a single question asked of him, flush, flush, just uses deflection and answers a question with a question, which thinks he should get a reply on. When and only when you start answering question, then I will reply.
God, please help us all.

Re: Post 28;
What is it, exactly, that you’re babbling about here? (Incoherent and incomprehensible come to mind when trying to make sense of your post - although, I might add - this would never be considered be an unusual occurrence.)
I posted five (5) comments/criticisms of your Post 23 - and you ignore and evade all of those issues by posting this, shall we say, “riddle”?
I don’t know if we “all” need help from “God” at this particular moment, but it sure seems YOU might!

TK,
I do not respond to insane comments, which is why they always get ignored.
Especially those who are most likely Obsessive/Compulsive, and talk to people who do not exist but think they are in the room with them.

Re: Post 30;
Clearly, just another excuse for evading the issues or questions at hand.
(Heaven Forbid! that I should EVER be in the same room with YOU!)

Figures doesn’t it ???? Nothing surprises me anymore.
