Accuracy in Media

It looks like James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas may jhave some ‘splaining to do after an analysis by The Blaze reveals some selective editing of the recently released NPR videos.

The most damning video was the one where now former NPR executive Ron Schiller was quoted as calling the Tea Partiers as racists.  However a further look at the raw footage shows that Schiller was actually discussing what an Republican Ambassador was saying.

Here is the video from Naked Emperor News on Vimeo

What the public saw and heard Schiller saying was this:

Schiller:   The current Republican party is not really the Republican Party. It’s been hijacked by this group that…

‘Muslim‘: The radical, racist, Islamophobic, Tea Party people?

Schiller: Exactly. And not just Islamophobic, but really xenophobic. Basically, they believe in white, middle America, gun-toting — I mean, it’s scary. They’re seriously racist, racist people.

And here is what the raw footage reveals:

Schiller: I won’t break a confidence, but a person who was an ambassador — so, a very highly placed Republican — another person, who was one of the top donors to the Republican party, they both told me they voted for Obama, which they never believed they could ever do in their lives. That they could ever vote for a Democrat, ever. And they did, because they think the current Republican party is not really the Republican Party. It’s been hijacked by this group that…

Muslim’: The radical, racist, Islamophobic, Tea Party people?

Schiller: Exactly. And not just Islamophobic, but really xenophobic. Basically, they believe in white, middle America, gun-toting — I mean, it’s pretty scary. They’re seriously racist, racist people.

This doesn’t totally exculpate Schiller from repeatung these remarks since he didn’t exactly disassociate himslef from them but it does bring into question once again O’Keefe’s penchant for clever editing to make his point.

All of the NPR executives that have now resigned or been suspended are still guilty of bias and subterfuge with regard to their dealings with O’Keefe’s fake Muslim charity, of that I am still confident.

What I think is interesting is the fact that it took Glenn Beck’s conservative website The Blaze to expose O’Keefe and not anyone in the mainstream media which has been highly critical of O’Keefe in the past.

Conservatives should hold themselves to a higher standard of journalism and in this case O’Keefe falls short.

I live in Canada, and Fox has never been banned. Sun-TV, a Canadian version of Fox, was threatened with a block with this ‘accuracy’ law, but it failed.Obviously, anyone who watches the MSM in Canada knows that this law against lying in the press is never enforced.
