The New York Times has corrected an error that they first made in 1995 about John McCain.

Correction: August 12, 2008
An article on Sunday about Senator John McCain's campaign management style described his role as a Navy pilot in Vietnam incorrectly. He flew bombing missions as an attack aircraft pilot, but he was not a "fighter pilot." (The error has appeared in numerous other Times articles the past dozen years, most recently on April 9 and on Dec. 15, 2007.)
Makes you wonder what other mistakes are lurking out there.

Holy Crutch Batdog, When he got his Ass smoked over Ha noi he was in an A-4, “A” for Attack aircraft. When he was flying a F-4, “F” for Fighter aircraft. Then too the F-4 Phantom was extensively used in Vietnam in an ATTACK role.
All that matters is wither the pilot is TYPE Rated for the aircraft he’s flying. Very seldom does the Military allow a pilot fly a plane that he is not type rated for without going through cross training into it. Shiite… guess you never heard of Multi role applications of an aircraft design? McCain like Cunningham&Powell;are NOT Presidential material. They all put personal gain over The Constitution that the Grunt and Support personel swore their allegiance to.
