Accuracy in Media

NBC News Chairman Andy Lack is unconcerned about disgraced former NBC Evening News anchor Brian Williams’ history of lying. He told The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple that it’s “ancient history to me.”

Lack also thinks that Williams’ new program on MSNBC—”The 11th Hour with Brian Williams”—is “off to a nice start,” though the ratings tell a different story.

The program, which debuted on September 6, has struggled to attract viewers in the key 25-54 demographic. From Sept. 6 through the 20th Williams drew an average of 235,000, versus 293,000 for Don Lemon’s CNN show during the 11:00-11:30 pm time-slot.

Williams’ show is slated to air only until election day, but it’s clear that Lack is hoping that the show’s ratings will be strong enough to justify a more permanent slot somewhere on the network until he feels enough time has passed that he can bring “The Biggest Liar” back to NBC.

I love how you liars on the right continue to pretend that Bill O’Reilly hasn’t told NUMEROUS whoppers that are each much WORSE than what Williams did. The difference between them? Williams fessed up and took his lumps. O’Reilly just doubled down on his lies and, since he’s on Fox “News”, the matter was dropped. This is why you idiots have no credibility. It’s the hypocrisy, stupid.

If ya got something, bring it on! Just saying someone lied doesn’t mean they did. Williams got trapped by his own stupidity, he didn’t “Fess Up”.

Here are instances when O’Reilly touted his time as a war correspondent during the Falklands conflict:

In his 2001 book, The No Spin Zone: Confrontations With the Powerful and Famous in America, O’Reilly stated, “You know that I am not easily shocked. I’ve reported on the ground in active war zones from El Salvador to the Falklands.”
Conservative journalist Tucker Carlson, in a 2003 book, described how O’Reilly answered a question during a Washington panel discussion about media coverage of the Afghanistan war: “Rather than simply answer the question, O’Reilly began by trying to establish his own bona fides as a war correspondent. ‘I’ve covered wars, okay? I’ve been there. The Falklands, Northern Ireland, the Middle East. I’ve almost been killed three times, okay.'”
In a 2004 column about US soldiers fighting in Iraq, O’Reilly noted, “Having survived a combat situation in Argentina during the Falklands war, I know that life-and-death decisions are made in a flash.”
In 2008, he took a shot at journalist Bill Moyers, saying, “I missed Moyers in the war zones of [the] Falkland conflict in Argentina, the Middle East, and Northern Ireland. I looked for Bill, but I didn’t see him.”

This is one example. He also lied about witnessing the murder of nuns in South America (I forget the exact details) and there was another whopper. If I had time, I’d do the research that you should have done to show you.

But you didn’t hear about O’Reilly’s blatant lies, did you? Moron.

Brian Williams has no credibility. Once personal credibility is gone, it’s gone. It can never be reclaimed.
Bill O’Reilly is part of the Establishment. He is a collectivist.

  • NERDWORLD PROBLEMS

According the the liberals everything is ancient history, even if it happened last week as long as its happening to one the liberal sweethearts. ON the other hand, Donald’s 20 yr old illegally obtained tax records are as fresh as a daisy.

Well, typical left wing tactic, resort to name calling. The Argentine incident was clearly explained to those of us who listen, it is all fully documented on line. If there was something to nail O’Reilly on, it would have happend already. He has enough enemies on the Left and the Right. The damning evidence simply does not exist.

You’re a lemming. A dumb, misinformed lemming. Have fun losing another election in November.

  • This is very serious. If true, these allegations bring O’Reilly down to your level, don’t they, Sorosbaby.

  • IronChefSandwiches

If true? They are well documented, you misinformed moron. O’Reilly is already down to the level of a propagandist and an idiot. Right, Kochbaby? (See. It’s fun to make stupid insults that don’t make sense!)

  • A propagandist and an idiot – that would you, of course.

  • IronChefSandwiches

And still Bill O’Reilly’s MUCH MORE MASSIVE credibility problems go unmentioned. “Accuracy” in Media? What a freaking joke.
