Greetings,
I listened to this program for the first time. The narrator’s name was Jim?
He was not a polite person, at all. However, one of his “come-backs” and interruptions to the New Mexico/x-Governor was “if you wait to retire at 70 years you will miss out on all the . . . . .social security payments.
I don’t think this young man is aware that the person working till 70 is collecting a wage during this time, contributing to savings, 403B, to IRAs, and the social security he/she is still paying into the system is what is paying the SS payments to those who have retired.
I have heard this comment so many times from acquaintances who retired early. That I was losing money, blah, blah. And I sat there and just listened to them blah, blah and I was still working to make it to 66. During the extra years I worked I still had my medical insurance paid for by my company. The ones that retired early collected less, had to pay their own medical insurance, etc. for x-amount of years longer, their contributions to their savings, 401-K’s IRAs, etc., all quit. I paid in years longer, had more to retire on, am getting more from SS then they are and I came out ahead in the long run. I never suffered, lost anything, etc.
When my friends start moaning and groaning about “we can’t do that because we don’t make as much as you do” . . . . . .I just sit there and think “You should have thought about all that up front in stead of listening to people who said “You come out ahead by retiring early and collecting SS early. Excuse me? I don’t think so. They now realize it, but that was their choice.
Thank you,
Jim, be a little more polite. You come across as a complete . . . . .well, your ill-mannered conduct is not necessary. At all.
Respectfully,
Susan
