MSNBC President Says It’s “Our Time”

By Don  |  July 18, 2008

MSNBC's new president Phil Griffin takes exception to Chris Wallace's remarks that Keith Olbermann has no business anchoring election coverage and says that Fox News is scared by being challenged by MSNBC.

Phil Griffin to Chris Wallace: Kiss my Peacock.

The newly-named president of MSNBC takes offense at Wallace's assertion this week that commentator Keith "Mr. Bush, Shut the Hell Up" Olbermann has no business anchoring election coverage, and that Fox News would never commit such a sin.

"That raises little hairs on my neck," says Griffin, responding to the latest volley in the networks' testosterone-driven skirmish.

"I'm a big fan of Fox News. I hate it when they pretend to be something they're not — fair and balanced. They were created as an ideological news channel. You see it every day."

"I'm fine with that. It's great. Just be honest about who you are. Don't start throwing rocks at us. It shows they're scared, because for the first time in a long time, they're being challenged. It's our time."

The idea of a challenge depends on your perception though.  Yes Fox News' ratings are stalled and MSNBC's are up, but Fox is still far ahead of MSNBC and continues to pull in viewers and ad dollars and it would take an enormous change in viewer habits to truly threaten them.  Maybe MSNBC can just call themselves the network of the angry left.

Keith would add a fair bit of unexpected excitement to an otherwise dull and laborous affair. Not all will agree with his thoughts and ideas but that is why they have remote controls.

For years MSNBC was my favorite TV station. No more. They are to far to the left for me. Damn........I get the feeling I slept through the 08 election. Need to get ready for Christmas. Or will I be required to say Happy Holidays? The Peacock (BHO) is prancing around the world acting like the election is over.

Fox News is moving into the center, like BO.

MSNBC’s time for what?  Nevermind.  MSNBC’s a hopeless case.

Olbermann was such an inept and obnoxious sports announcer that I was initially glad to see him shifted to the news, never dreaming that such an ignoramous as he would have any success there.  Like someone said, we can always switch the channel, to another news report, which was not always possible when listening to sports. I guess that he is a good example of how different we are.  While I can’t stand to listen to him two minutes (and from what I read I am not alone in my revulsion for both his person and his general ineptness), it just proves that we are all different. In this land of the free, I guess we must be brave and tolerate such as Olbermann in the name of free speech.  I try to be good, very good, and am ready to ingratiate myself with St. Peter with a thousand flattering adjectives, for I am sure that if I go to hell, that Satan, at his devilish best, will discover my revulsion and force me to listen to the Olbermanns of this world on and on into eternity.  [However, Satan might not be so smart after all, for I would go stark-raving mad within minutes of being subjected to Olberman’s ignorant ranting, my brain would turn to mush, and I would thus be oblivious to everything.]
I guess that instead of all the nonsense above, I could have just told y’all, straight out, “I hate Olbermann!”
