BOY WERE THEY PI__ED!

That’s a good question, and it so happens that by sheer coincidence, I know just barely enough about US history to answer that question without a moment’s hesitation.

And the answer is “HECK NO! If Lincoln were alive today he wouldn’t touch the GOP with a ten-foot pole!”

And now I’ll tell you why I think that:

Now I’m telling you up front that 19th-century US history is pretty hazy subject for me. But it so happens that a few weeks ago I happened to read something about Lincoln’s monetary policy. And I discovered that Lincoln struggled throughout his presidency with the greedy US banksters of his day. And he played a particularly nasty trick on those worthies. And for this trick I hope Lincoln’s name will live in glory forevermore!

He told the banksters that the federal government no longer needed their assistance in managing the US currency. (As you can well imagine, that “assistance” was not coming cheap!). And he proceeded to issue a new currency (which was still called the dollar, just like before) which the federal government would issue in its own name and not in the name of any bank, as had occurred until then. And this new sort of dollar bill was called the “greenback”. And none of the banks ever made a single penny on shuffling that paper money around.

And BOY WERE THEY PI___ED!

Flash forward to 2008. The president of the US is great buddies with all the banksters. He continually does favors for them. For example, when after a decade of reckless speculation by the banksters suddenly the banksters found they had lost their respective shirts, the President, loyal friend that he is, told them not to worry, he’d fix that problem. And he cheerfully collected close to a TRILLION DOLLARS from you, and from me, and from Ms Gómez down the road, and from lots of other people, and he gave away all our money to the reckless banksters! (with the selfless support of most Republican and most Democratic senators and congressmen, by the way).

I don’t know much about Lincoln, but that little anecdote warmed the cockles of my heart. And now you know why Lincoln, if he were alive today, WOULDN’T TOUCH THE GOP WITH A TEN-FOOT POLE!”

Because Lincoln was no crook.

Well, I see Karl is back…with more mistruths, you may not know much about History, however I am a Historian. Not just the crap which is taught in K through 12 and Universities, but from their own writings and first hand accounts.

Liberal/Progressives are a minority which was growing, now they are losing many of them. I am happy that the Lamestream Media are putting down the TEA Party movement, the effect has allowed it to grow even more. According to Politco, they take all polls and add them into one single poll, including Democrat and found that 40% of TEA Party members are now Independents and Democrats, and 20% are Black and growing.

MSNBC combined shows still puts them behind “RFD-TV” in the Ratings. You have many in the House,  Senate, and the White House who think our Constitution is worthless and only gets in their way.

Speaking of Lincoln, during the beginning of the Civil War, they getting their butts kicked because so many up in the North did not like what the Union was doing to the people in the South, not paying them a decent price for crops, if they got paid at all. So Lincoln made it about Slavery…But he had to get rid of his Slaves before he could change peoples minds.

Just where do you thing the slave trade began? How about New York, Boston, Philadelphia, all norther states.

You can take your ‘revisionist history’ it doesn’t play well with the truth.

Right on, Wesley !!  Thanks to you, and Neo Conned, along with a lot more reading and research, I finally got my history regarding Lincoln straight !  It is just terrible what the schools taught us to believe !  And it grows worse each and every passing year with those progressives sneaking things in and out in order to suit their own selfish agenda.

I can’t tell whether or not this is a put-on or not, but if Wesley is saying that Lincoln owned slaves, he’s full of sheepdip.  Lincoln was born in Kentucky, which was a slave state, but left with his family at the age of seven, and spent most of his adult life in Indiana and Kentucky, which were free states.  He never said a good word about slavery.  Lincoln made his first speech against slavery in 1837, stating that “slavery is founded on both injustice and bad policy.”

If you want to find out true things about Abraham Lincoln, find a copy of the book “Did Lincoln Own Slaves?” by Gerald J. Prokopowicz (you should be able to pick it up on Amazon).

Talk about revisionist history and where the slave trade began—yep, I can remember my great-great-grandpappy talking about all those slaves working in the cotton fields in Boston.

The answer to the book title, by the way (quote) is “No, but people keep asking.”

Tony, try reading the letters of Mary Todd Lincoln, they are held by a private collector collector in Kentucky who occasionally displays his collection (with full documentation by Historians, which is also on display)…That is the first revision in his History. Don’t get me wrong, I applaud him writing the Emancipation Proclamation, but that is NOT what the war was about in the beginning.

There are thousands of small town museums all across that part of America, and going to old estate sales, garage sales and have found many letters from soldiers on both sides of that horrid war which I have collected, and I always pay more than what they ask if documentation is valid of the period. When allowed, I use an 18 megapixel digital camera with low light setting to get clear very readable photos of all documents and old tin photos. If the this site had HTML posting I would put the the photos on here.

Uncovering ‘Real History’ has been a life long passion…there were copies of those letters in the Library of Congress, however the last time I checked, were no longer there…the reason was they were copies and not the originals.

As far as History, it not limited to the United States, but all time periods from around the world. During my 17 years of working overseas I have picked up many very old books, most need to be translated. It is difficult reading many supposed history books, they first much have verification notes, then I check those sources.

Diane, always a pleasure to to see you again! I have always applauded your thirst for knowledge, you have it down and have worked really hard…good for you!!! Haven’t been on AIM as much lately, working with several others on a rather large project, then we got our hands on the “Disrupt and Dismantle” memo to put plants in the Tea Party movement, in cooperation with the Media, they will use hate speech and hate signs to be used in both politics and the Media. I was pleased to see the CBS/NYT poll which said that 68% of people believe the Tea Party Movement approval of where the country needs to go, as opposed to Obama’s 38% vision.

I have been chronicling our own modern history using their own words, photos, videos since 1963. Many of the older things on video tape and radio interviews, are transcribed and can be found on Nexis-Lexis.

A few quotes from Lincoln [from essays by economics professor and author of “The Real Lincoln” and “Lincoln Unmasked”, Thomas DiLorenzo]

In his Aug. 21, 1858, debate with Stephen Douglas -  “I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is a physical difference between the two, which, in my judgment, will probably forever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality; and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference, I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position. I have never said anything to the contrary.”

In Springfield, Ill., on July 17, 1858, Lincoln said, “What I would most desire would be the separation of the white and black races.”

On Sept. 18, 1858, in Charleston, Ill., he said: “I will to the very last stand by the law of this state, which forbids the marrying of white people with Negroes.”

(Probably most damning) -  On August 22,1862 in a letter to the editor of the New York Tribune, Horace Greeley, Lincoln wrote –
“My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union…”

A few other points that DiLorenzo makes about Lincoln’s views about blacks and equality –

[Lincoln supported the Illinois Constitution, which prohibited the emigration of black people into the state, and he also supported the Illinois Black Codes, which deprived the small number of free blacks in the state any semblance of citizenship. He strongly supported the Fugitive Slave Act, which compelled Northern states to capture runaway slaves and return them to their owners. In his First Inaugural he pledged his support of a proposed constitutional amendment that had just passed the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives that would have prohibited the federal government from ever having the power “to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State.” In his First Inaugural Lincoln advocated making this amendment “express and irrevocable.”

Lincoln was also a lifelong advocate of “colonization” or shipping all black people to Africa, Central America, Haiti—anywhere but here. “I cannot make it better known than it already is,” he stated in a Dec. 1, 1862, Message to Congress, “that I strongly favor colonization.”]

Also, (as a trial lawyer) Lincoln once defended in court a slave-owner seeking to retrieve his runaway slaves but never defended a runaway.

On the Emancipation Proclamation, DiLorenzo refers to Black American author Lerone Bennett, Jr’s book, “Forced into Glory: Abraham Lincoln’s White Dream”. Writes DiLorenzo –

[Bennett argues that “academics and [the] media had been hiding the truth for 135 years and that Lincoln was not the great emancipator or the small emancipator or the economy-sized emancipator.” He presents chapter and verse of how the Emancipation Proclamation freed no one, since it only applied to “rebel territory,” and specifically exempted all the slave-owning/Union-controlled border states and other areas that were occupied by the U.S. army at the time. He quotes James Randall, who has been called the “greatest Lincoln scholar of all time,” as writing, “the Proclamation itself did not free a single slave.” It was the Thirteenth Amendment that finally ended slavery, he correctly notes, and Lincoln was dragged into accepting it kicking and screaming all the way.]

So what was the purpose of the Proclamation? Primarily to placate the genuine abolitionists with a political sleight of hand, says Bennett, and to deter Britain and France from formally recognizing the Confederate government.
Since so few Americans are aware of these facts, Bennett correctly concludes that “the level of ignorance on Abraham Lincoln and race in the United States is a scandal and a rebuke to schools, museums, media, and scholars.” This of course is no accident; it’s exactly the way the state wants it to be.]

Again, referring to Bennett’s book, DiLorenzo states –

[Why, one would ask, is such a distinguished African-American journalist so incensed over the Lincoln myth? It is because of his twenty years of painstaking research, resulting in this book, that proves, among other things, what a vulgar racist Lincoln was. Bennett provides quote after quote of Lincoln’s own words, habitually using the N-word so much that people in Washington thought he was weirdly consumed by his racism. Bennett tells of first-hand accounts by some of Lincoln’s generals of how they left a meeting with him during a crisis in the war in which the president spent most of his time in the meeting telling off-color “darkie” jokes (Lincoln’s language). General James Wadsworth, for example, was “shocked by the racism in the Lincoln White House.”]

Neo-conned, great post…I (sadly) had forgotten DiLorenzo’s book. My library is full and have already started building book shelves in the large Game Room to put more of my books out to locate them easier.

Amazing, what the history books, the public schools, documentary channels, the media, and the political establishment, had covered up about Lincoln.
That is why Diane and others shouldn’t feel bad about not knowing the other side of the story in historical matters, because most of us in fact, had been brainwashed for many years by those sources before the arrival of the Internet. We just didn’t stand a chance.

In fact, the rule of thumb I go by is that whatever historical event or persons are evaluated by the above sources, I assume the opposite is the correct evaluation.
Their evaluations almost always favor the aggrandizement of the federal government, which is why they tend to give the highest ratings to the likes of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, and Woodrow Wilson.

It’s ironic that we were taught as young children, about George Washington. They used a lie about chopping him down a ‘Cherry Tree’. I believe Washington was an honest man, so why make his honesty into a parable? It wasn’t the moral of the tale that made me remember his honesty, it was when I found out the truth which made it memorable. (“Father, I cannot tell a lie, it was I who chopped down that tree”)

A poll released by Gallup on Thursday the 14th showed that 95% of Americans believed FDR was the greatest President in our history. Almost the same number believe he was also the President who dropped the A-Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Only 5% of 2,500 college seniors knew it was Truman.

I find it disheartening that our government and its agencies, such as the NEA, feel the need to elaborate, change, alter, omit what every American should know. I do recall how disappointed Diane was when she began posting here, however she has become very proactive in her search for the truth. Diane thinks a lot of you, and I am proud to call you friend and patriot, as well as The Major, Deb, and the others who regularly post on many of our topics.
