The left a key constituency of Barack Obama in 2008 is now starting to pull away from the president since he is committing more troops to Afghanistan rather than withdraw them.

While President Barack Obama has struggled to keep the center together, he's had one unquestioned political success: Keeping the left at bay. A battle-tested Democratic infrastructure fell into line behind the White House, with regular meetings and conference calls to coordinate strategy and preempt any breach of message discipline - easy on the Tim Geithner! - or what chief of staff Rahm Emanuel might regard as obstructionist behavior.
That alliance, which endured in spite of sometimes emotional differences on the shape of health care legislation, is now under increasing strain. Obama's commitment of 30,000 troops to Afghanistan Tuesday night has energized a left increasingly angry at what it perceives as Obama’s accommodations with the center and an energized right.
MoveOn is one of the handful of groups breaking from the White House’s hold on big liberals to raise money, activate volunteers and threaten for the first time, Obama’s left flank. And so is a pixie-ish 50 year old former Hollywood producer who named her blog after her dog, and is taking what she calls “the next step in our evolution."
The campaign launched by Jane Hamsher, whose blog Firedoglake first came to national attention for obsessive coverage of the Valerie Plame investigation, is called, "One Voice for Choice," and uses the nifty online phone banking tools that helped power Obama's campaign to put a scare into House Democrats who voted to attach the anti-abortion Stupak Amendment to health care legislation.
The calls will target, in particular, pro-choice Democrats in those typically conservative district, threatening to cut the base out from under Democrats who are straining to reach out to the other side.
"We're taking something that was like gold to them and that they were counting on having and saying they can't take it for granted," she said, describing House Democrats' tendency to take the progressive base for granted.
The initiative is Hamsher's latest assault on what she calls “the Veal Pen” - the tightly-managed coalition of Democratic groups centered financially around the Democracy Alliance and organizationally around the Center for American Progress, both in turn creations of the left in exile in the Bush years. She borrowed the phrase from Douglas Coupland's 1991 "Generation X," in which he used it to describe a generation trapped in cubicles.
Those groups have now traded a measure of independence for, as they see it, the effectiveness that comes with working with the White House, and those who step outside that model have learned quickly that the White House doesn't forgive slights.
"What makes Jane so unique is that she not only lacks a need for Beltway access, but she affirmatively disdains it. She doesn't need Rahm Emanuel to approve of what she's doing," said Salon blogger Glenn Greenwald, another independent on the left and frequent White House critic, in an email.
The year's great - and frustrating — causes on the left have been the Afghan war and the health care public option. Hamsher and Firedoglake first began to flex their muscles on the former, organizing a "whip count" of progressive members of Congress to pledge to vote against supplemental funding for the war.
In tandem with a revolt on the right against a provision connected to the International Monetary Fund, the anti-war revolt delayed the legislation and marked a turn toward clear opposition in parts of Congress.
Add to this Michael Moore's open letter to Obama and you now have a revolt by the left against Obama who is already being pummeled by the recession and key legislation that is under heavy attack frm conservatives and Blue Dog Democrats.
In less than eleven months the promise of Obama to bring the country together has completely unraveled and spells trouble for him and the Democrats in 2010.

If you are a citizen of this Country, there are no, or should be no hyphenated Americans. Perhaps I am just not PC enough for the Liberal/Marxists, you will never hear me call myself an Irish-American…or a Native-American (I have enough Comanche in me to qualify to own a Casino), I am an American…period.
For a short list, we have people naming Americans as:
African-Americans
Mexican-Americans
Muslim-Americans
Asian-Americans (those are also broken down into the countries they came from (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino, and so on…)
Mind you these are also protected groups under Supreme Court rulings, thank you ACLU.
Oddly enough, I do not remember any of these hyphenated Americans fighting for our freedom in the revolutionary war. I know and are friends with many Blacks, but have yet to meet only a handful actually from Africa.
If Obama’s next three Bills pass, we will all be in poverty, hard work means nothing to Liberals or many of these people.
First comes a One World Currency, then a One World Government, there is no doubt that is our “Muslim-American” president is seeking.

Not only do more qualified Caucasians do not get jobs, or admitted into college if they have quota’s, but under Obama, they could actually go to illegal aliens. It makes me sick when Pro Athletes are interviewed and you need a translator or at least sub-titles…how the hell did they graduate. If a natural born American cannot speak proper English, Since I graduated from the University of Texas, you had to maintain a 3.0 GPA to play sports, that has now been lowered to 2.6, since I was somewhat older than most other students, I still maintained a 3.8 at graduation, if not for working so much, I may have scored even higher.
Reparations are out of the question, Americans cannot be held responsible for what happened so many years ago, what’s next reparations for American Indians, whom are not Native to this Country, they migrated here from Asia to what is now Alaska. They never laid claim to this land.
These days the only group of people who are allowed to be discriminated against are Christians, and especially White Males (of course all smokers).

I retired 10 years ago, but always a leader and never a follower. If pride is a sin, then I am guilty, but I did take pride in my work. Having spent 17 years working overseas, in many countries where there were no U.S. or friendly embassies. A little more than six years in Libya, mostly in the Sahara, the average temp was 131 degrees, up to a record of 142. Inside our shop(s), it would get up to 140+; the work was hard buy satisfying. We had base station communications from one desert office to other companies, but we were not allowed to have radios in our trucks, if you attempted (as I did) they were confiscated by Customs for military use. I didn’t want to give them anything they could use, so I banned the UHF radios.
The Desert Militia would often attempt to take our vehicles. I had lost 7 while I was there; however there were two they did not get as I saw them coming…the ones lost were taken at Check Points. If you ran they would fire on you, the first time I got away clean, the second time, several with AK’s hit the truck I was driving and was hit twice, in the leg, and in my side, which cost me my spleen…I was lucky that day. I was still two hours away from our camp (it was also the closest), once clear, I used my belt and a rag to put over my leg would and tightened it, then cut out the seat belt and wrapped it around my mid-section to slow the bleeding. Of course I had to go without a clutch. The Occidental camp had a British doctor, not a surgeon, it was 40 km from our camp, and he called our people, who contacted our home office in Tripoli. We had Swiss Emergency Medical flights. I was flown by our private jet to Malta, then the Swiss Medical flew to Geneva, they did have a surgeon on board. The Oxy Doc had typed by blood, put a fluid IV and a broad spectrum IV till we got to Malta, the Swiss jet was already waiting, and during the flight they gave me blood and removed the bullets. I was in the hospital there for six weeks, they then flew be back to JFK, then on to D/FW International.
I was back in the Desert in three months; I still had a job to do…
Two years later, I took a five ton flat-bed truck the 2,000 miles into Tripoli to get supplies, which would give me an extra two weeks at home. At Sidra, I stopped to re-fuel my truck, and was soon surrounded by Police and Military, without any proof, I was accused of being an Interpol spy, and thrown into a dirt flood cell, where they beat and tortured me for three months. I was told I was going to the Benghazi Prison, but knowing the coastal highway, we turned toward Tripoli, the Egyptians had good Intel, and was rescued long before we reached Tripoli, for understandable reasons, I still cannot release my book or talk about that incident for another two years. We had a Christian Palestinian Lawyer, who had the “spy” charges dropped, but still would have to go to trial if I returned. (It is not what you know, but who you know, and our lawyer did have connections) and was put in house arrest. Once they bought my passport back ($6,000.00) the next flight out was in two days. One of the guy who worked for me was leaving that day on Libyan Arab Airways, I told them I wanted on the next thing out smoking, I didn’t care if it was a cat dragging a shoe box, someone was bumped and caught the last flight to Heathrow, England. My escort, Mahmud (and older Libyan who worked for us, had a brother who worked in customs at the Tripoli Airport got the vial of Demerol and syringes) then gave them to me just as I was boarding in a wheelchair, due to my injuries. There was enough for five injections, I took four, the last one as we were descending into England, then their customs took what was left, there was an ambulance waiting and took me to Hillingdon Hospital. I waited till the trial was over, and returned after five months. With each return to the U.S. I was always debriefed as to what I saw or knew, part of the deal with the Secretary of State to travel to off limit countries, and often was given orders upon my next return. That is just “one” of the No-Travel countries I worked in…I did become pretty fluent in Arabic (and was easy to pick up on differing dialects) and Farsi, though I would not let many there know, one learns more when they thing you do not understand.
If possible, I would not hesitate to go anywhere, but it is much more difficult without a job cover.
I have never feared anything, with the exception of something happening to my family…Until Obama, I fear where this country is heading, and all those in Government have forgotten, or do not care about the Greatest Country the world has ever known. To all the Liberal/Socialists/Marxists/Communists…you can all go straight to hell, we do not want or need you here. If you do not appreciate how this country used to be, then MOVE AWAY.

These days, I do as much as I can by volunteering for the RNC, who have given me mass email lists. I do all I can to get the truth out about what is happening, exposing Liberal lies. I have enlisted many Black Republican friends who help get the word out to their community, as well as Hispanic, they are more effective than an old white guy in getting the truth out to everyone possible, especially those who do not have Cable or Satellite or Internet to get Fox News.
We also target what is being taught in Schools, to the parents and the students themselves. I am a members of several organizations; The Wounded Warrior Project, The National Right to Work Organization, Truth in Media, PETA ***(People Eating Tasty Animals)***, NRA, I help Organize drives for Families of Deployed Soldiers (both monetary and gifts), Help with drives to enlist more buglers for troop burials. There is a large separate group who gathers and boxes Items for our deployed troops not only to help brighten their day, but more importantly to let them know that many Americans are still supporting them. I am spread thin, but have quite a few volunteers who help so much. I am by no means alone in what I am involved in, and almost every State. Houston is a Sanctuary City, over the years have been in touch with law enforcement who are not allowed to contact ICE, but I will, and have done so often…(I have been Wesley in Dallas so long, I have yet to change my ID). It is unbelievable how many people donate their time and efforts.
I have had the pleasure of travelling to Walter Reed to visit with wounded troops, and more often Brooke Army Hospital (my Birthplace).

How to Fix Congress
I am sending this to virtually everybody on my e-mail lists and that includes conservatives, liberals, and everybody in between. Even though we disagree on a number of issues, I count all of you as friends. We want to promote a “Congressional Reform Act of 2009”. It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Friends, please send me your recommendations on how this bill can be improved.

I wish to be allowed to share this concept with you,the people United States Of America.
From the date of September 11, 2001 I have watched this Nation slowly die and this war has taken on a thought, a concept, that makes me feel unsafe.
I asked the big what if and why, and this is it, ” Why do the people of the United States Of America grow weaker because if a dollar and the Arabic Drug Empire grows stronger to the point that now another 40,000 men and women of the United States Military is leaving for the war, why is there a hands off policy, that will not allow the destruction of these popy fields ?”

Yeah, John Kerry is a real American, huh? Just as the men serving with him told the media he was about the only one who did ‘not’ deserve the medals. Just one of the reasons they turned on him during his election so publicly…he was, and still is a coward. I sure as hell would not want him on my six.
You should keep you medals Major; you earned them with dignity and honor in service of our country.
If you look at the Democrat Party, you have those who call themselves Fiscal Democrats, Liberals, Socialists, Marxists (Progressives), and believe it or not, some Communists all folded into own party. The Republican Party should include the Conservatives, then create a Constitutionalist Party, along with Independents and bring them into one party.

We already have a pretty dammed good Governor of Texas in Rick Perry, who in 2003 passed Medical Malpractice Tort Reform (and also capped awards for all defendants other than Medical). The result was a huge influx of more of the best Doctors than we could use, Millionaires, Billionaires, Businesses moved here especially from California, N.Y., and other States. We are now the only State with a large Surplus…The cheapest Medical Malpractice Insurance rates in the Country.
Gov. Perry refused the Obama Administration’s State Stimulus, he was told if Texas did not take it, they would cut off Federal Funding, and would deny us FEMA assistance. So Perry took the Stimulus and put it a Texas Owned Bank, and has been drawing interest until it could be paid back, then keep the interest.
Not really interested in political office, never-the-less would consider only if a Progressive showed strong in the polls…if hey want dirt on me, it would have to be fabricated, but I am sure there would be plenty of good candidates.
Given what the Progressives want to do to the United States, loss of freedoms, unconstitutionally getting involved in States, Government intervention into our private lives, a national debt which is estimated to take almost 100 years to pay off…moving toward a One World Government.
The Republic of Texas had its own Constitution, President, V.P., Congress and Senate (the Constitution very closely mirrored the one written by our Founding Fathers). It took several years of intense discussions to convince our new country to join U.S. Statehood in 1845. The U.S. Government made concessions to our Republic in exchange for making Texas smaller, to create several more States.
By doing so, Oklahoma would be much smaller, there would be no New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado; part of what is now Kansas, most of Utah, or Wyoming.
Given what is or is likely happening, a ‘rightful’ Succession movement has began here in Texas, in the past couple of weeks, 17 Million people have signed to become its own Republic again. In the past, I have always been against such a movement; I am a United States Patriot.
Also this weekend, our National Debt hit its ceiling at $12.1 Trillion; the Senate passed a Bill this weekend to increase it to $14 Trillion. Debt per Citizen is $39,323.00; per Tax Payer is $111,313.00 this year (and this is each year which is rising W/O Interest). Our Interest Rate is now $800 Billion per year, and rising. The Omnibus Spending Bill to keep the Government running was at an all time high @ $1.1 Trillion passed by the Senate will be signed, bringing the National Debt to $13.117 Trillion. Just more money we do not have…

What better check against a federal government that has FAR exceeded the constitutional limitations placed on it by the Founders? The atrocities you accurately described in the first paragraph of #14 is just the tip of the iceberg of what an out-of-control federal government had perpetrated on it’s populace.
A theoretical seceded Texas, presumably governing itself much closer to the constitutional republic the Founders envisioned, would serve as a beacon to the rest of the United States and hopefully inspire some of those states to follow suit, or threaten to. At least enough of them to put some needed pressure on the federal government to scale back on their oppressive taxation, regulatory, and social-engineering schemes.
Attempting to be a “United States Patriot” may very well turn out be an exercise in futility, as the over-bloated, tyrannical federal government, along with it’s henchman in the federal judiciary, could very easily swallow up the most patriotic among us within its inertia of corruption.
Neo-Conned, you do make a valid point…Just as we did Tort in 2003, caused an influx of Medical Specialists, and other Doctors. The lack of State Taxes have increased our population. Reinstating a Republic could cause the benefits you describe, I might go along with it, it that would work, and we could then re-enter the U.S. where my real loyalties lie.
Since Texas is completely self sustainable, we could even institute trade—WITH BALANCE, unlike we have now.
If I knew other States would follow, with the same conditions of being allowed back into the U.S. when the time is right, only them could I consider the possibility.
But there is the question of self preservation, and put an end to this Tyranny heaped upon us by this President and the rest of Government. Non-Union Schools, teaching the non-revisionist history, and we have already reformed Welfare…
The benefits I see, is proving we can re-do Public Health Care, such as what we have now, but regulating those companies, to accept those with pre-existing conditions, covering those who are unable to work, and strengthen Health Care reforms for the elderly. We are already a “Right to Work” State, then Expel Unions who are corrupt, businesses would return, showing the rest of the U.S. that the System we had will work.
No more bad loans (mortgage or otherwise), rid of the Sub-Prime lending…lending to those who have the means to pay those off. A return to the to the Free Market Enterprise, lending to Small Businesses, the economy would explode, and show the rest of the U.S. it does work.
We could then stop all illegal immigration, if only to prove it is the right thing to do, and lower crime illegal crime rates.
We would also have the ability to rid our courts of Activist Judges on all levels, and as the Republic did by mirroring the original U.S. Constitution, no career politicians. There were term limits in both houses, and to be filled with Citizens as the Constitution wrote.
After all, Texas is so large, you could fit several EU countries within the borders, and show the US and the world that the old way still works.
Still I have reservations, just cannot help it, my first love is the USA.

Like all Liberals who have finally come to their senses,,the Radical LEFT will realize that BHO is coming after their income levels too. They will be TAXED higher than they thought “THE ONE"would do to them as “Loyal” lefties. When someone in THEIR family goes on Medicare,& gets screwed,or
when 1 of their own is in the Military,& gets
screwed,gets laid-off,fired,down-sized,or,,gets a promotion & their raise gets eaten by BHO taxes,
the list goes on & on,,,then the left will finally
see what BHO has been telling us ALL ALONG. He has intended to SCREW the RICH,HE SAID,,but BHO did not tell the lefties that there is NOT enough RICH to pay for his plans. WHO’S NEXT?? You are.
