Dear Don Irvine
The reason that Republicans (The national Fund-Raising committees) are not getting money is that the rank and file and especially the base of the Party still do not trust the Republican hierarchy. We clearly sent a message to them in 2006 to get their act together, and the amnesty legislation to many of us tells us they still did not get the message.
There is a reason that McCain was not getting the funds he needed UNTIL he named Sarah Palin to the ticket – he was not our nominee. Surely the Nat’l Party idiots can figure out that upon him naming Palin, not only overnight did McCain’s numbers go up, but all of a sudden he had the grassroots with him and he had money flowing in. It is not flowing in for McCain necessarily, but mainly because of Palin. He can screw that off, and McCain has been adept at poking the base in the eyes repeatedly – but he did lay an Olive Branch – and did name the right person for VP. He can get on her bandwagon, and do what he is good at – economic conservatism – and be the rebirth of the party.
As for money for Republicans – the individual candidates are getting the money needed – we just do not trust the Nat’l Party to divvy out that money with any brains. They divvy it out to their buddies rather than to candidates that are not to the left, but conservative. In fact they have also been adept at keeping the party’s left rather than assisting in bringing the party to the right. So for them to demand money from the candidates would show the base just how socialist the Republican hierarchy is becoming – and would definitely dry up money to the individual candidates. The candidates would have to make a pledge they would not give money raised to the national party at that point or lose the bulk of their grassroots funding.
