President Obama moved swiftly to try to repair relations with gays and lesbians by hosting the first ever Pride month celebration at the White House.

ABC News' Yunji de Nies reports: ABBA's "Dancing Queen" filled the East Room, as more than 200 prominent gays and lesbians gathered for the first ever celebration of Pride month at the White House. The President and First Lady entered to thunderous applause. President Obama told the group he is committed to equality for their community.
"This struggle continues today, for even as we face extraordinary challenges as a nation, we cannot and will not put aside issues of basic equality," he said, "We seek an America in which no one feels the pain of discrimination based on who you are or who you love."
Many gay and lesbians believe the President has been slow to act on major issues like the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, and the Defense of Marriage Act. The President asked the group to focus on what has been accomplished so far.
"I know that many in this room don't believe that progress has come fast enough, and I understand that," he said, "But I say this: We have made progress. And we will make more."
The President spoke about his recently signed memorandum, guaranteeing benefits to same sex partners of federal workers. While those include benefits like relocation and emergency evacuation - health care, retirement and survivor benefits are left out.
"There are unjust laws to overturn and unfair practices to stop," Mr. Obama said. Among those, the President said, the Defense of Marriage Act. Mr. Obama also said he has called on Congress to a domestic partners law, which would guarantee a range of benefits, most notably healthcare, to same sex couples. The President also vowed to pass a hate crimes bill that would include protections for gays and lesbians, and said the bill will be named for Matthew Shepard. The gay University of Wyoming student, whose parents were in the audience today, was tortured and killed near Laramie in 1998. His attackers were not charged with a hate crime. The President also said he is committed to ending the ban on entry to the U.S. based on HIV status.
As to Don't Ask, Don't Tell, the President said he believes the policy works against America's national security.
"My administration is already working with the Pentagon and members of the House and the Senate on how we'll go about ending this policy, which will require an act of Congress," he said. "I've asked the secretary of defense and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to develop a plan for how to thoroughly implement a repeal."
Still, the President said government can only do so much. "Even as we take these steps, we must recognize that real progress depends not only on the laws we change, but, as I said before, on the hearts we open," he said.
He ended his speech with a promise to champion their cause in the days to come.
"I want you to know that, in this task, I will not only be your friend; I will continue to be an ally and a champion and a president who fights with you and for you," he said.
Maybe next he can repaint the White House a nice shade of pink and hang the rainbow flag in front tos how his commitment to the gay cause.

Slowly, but surely, our beautiful country is becoming a pigsty. And the pigs are in charge.
This man is a master at killing hope for this country. He is insensitive to the values most people have in this country. His godly tak before the election is obviously simply a political ruse to help forward his liberal agenda.

I am glad Obama is more liberal than previous administrations towards homosexuality. There is no legitimate reason to oppress them or fear them. Freedom is on the march. It is about time.

I appreciate your opinions and you have your right to them. However the same does not apply to your facts. Obama observed the National Day of Prayer privately and with a proclamation (click on the link by my name or at the bottom). Some people were upset with that, but to say he never made any observance is incorrect.
Why can’t you come to call Obama “President”? I did not like former President George W. Bush’s policies a great deal, but I still called him “President” because he was. Refusing to do so, in my opinion is a kind of treason. Or at the very least unAmerican. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. The pendulum swings one way and then back again. How do you expect people to respect your favorite leaders if you do not show respect to theirs? As a Christian, I believe this starts with me. How about you?

Question: While I don’t approve, shouldn’t some of the members of these special interest groups (as mentioned above)realize that they are all pawns in the hands of this administration? At some point in time, the president will give a pass to marriage of the homosexuals. Thusfar, he has changed his mind on all promises.

We can’t call Obama president because he has himself proven that he is not legally qualified to serve in the office. Further, the evidence suggests strongly that he is an illegal alien rather than any form of a US citizen. Therefore, by the Constitution and every relevant law, he is NOT the President… perhaps King of America or Trojan to America.
But now that the media coronation is over and a growing number of people understand that Obama has spent over a million dollars of someone’s money through multiple legal firms to avoid being forced to present any Hawaiian-recognized (long-form) Birth Certificate in court, it is obvious that Emperor Obama is not wearing any clothes, and that his Marxist coup conspiracy group are willing accomplices (the Democratic National Communists) in defrauding every voter in every state…
The greatest irony in the Bernie Madoff media coverage is that the King of America is a far more accomplished and brazen con-man who deals in trillions, not billions, but the media and injustice department willingly sustain the “stimulus” and “bailout” label illusions.
We should all show respect to the office of the President, but not to an international con-man who openly pays billion dollar kickbacks and bribes with tax money and investor-theft, who repeatedly ignores the law and the overwhelming will of the people in issue after issue and nomination after nomination, while using our constitution for toilet paper and forming mandatory red youth brigades to force his illegal dictates down the throats of our communities.
He is the greatest breach of National Security in the history of the United States, himself a clear and present danger, and for that cunning achievement he has earned lasting notoriety and respect in world history. The DHS document, perhaps premature, is being proven by administration policies and positions to be a clear shot across the heartland of America, announcing that our king is deliberately turning our nation’s defensive and legal resources against anyone who would dare stand for truth, the rule of law, and a government of and by and for the people.
Too many critical people knowingly support him in his drive to destroy and occupy America from the inside out, but their support of his presidential illusion is fully treasonous. As intended, the majority of our citizens are useful idiots, and the DNC propaganda arm is working hard to keep them blind as long as possible. It’s time we wake up and smell the putrid stench that wafts through the media smokescreen.

The American electorate were hoodwinked by the promise of “Change”. To truly understand how Obama intends to govern, you need only to study the corrupt regime of King Richard Daley of Chicago, which is where Obama all his acolytes come from, including Emmanuel, Axelrod, Duncan, Jarrett, etc. Those of us who grew up in Chicago are well versed in the “Chicago Way”, which is now in control of the White House.

It’s apparently not too difficult to hoodwink the American electorate.
Remember - more Americans generally vote for the winning “American Idol” than vote for the winning presidential candidate; more Americans watch a single Super Bowl than watched all the candidate forums and debates COMBINED during the last presidential election; the current high school graduation rate in the U.S. averages only 64% (some states are at 85% - and some states are at 50% or less); and, in one survey that I saw, in 2007, only 61% of graduating high school seniors knew who Richard Cheney was.
It seems like a lot of Americans talk a good game when it comes to politics, civics and government - but a lot of them apparently really don’t know what they’re talking about!
Marketers and salespeople - and presidential campaign managers - are very much aware of this and are usually able to capitalize on it to the max!
And - of course - it works equally BOTH ways! Democratic AND Republican!

Paulo, thank you in advance for understanding that I cannot find a short answer for your question. Please do me the courtesy of reading through it in entirety? I hope to show truth and do it in a spirit of love when scripture is quoted, so please keep that in mind. I used http://www.christnotes.com and the KJV for my scripture references below.
As you will see, Christ Himself tell us that He did not come to give peace on this earth, but division. In other words, TRUTH will always be twisted, therefore His coming brought TRUTH, and will always be under attack by someone. People will always try to interpret scripture to make it say what they wish it to mean. The Bible is written on a 4th-5th grade reading level, and the verses below leave no room for intepretation, as they are very clear and concise.
Paulo, we are all sinners, and fall short of God’s standards…...ie; His Glory. Otherwise, we would not have needed Christ to die for our sins. However, God sacrificed His Son in love for a lost and dying world, and Christ accepted that burden and if we believe on Him, and follow His example and His will, putting Him on in Baptism, He gifts us with the Holy Spirit to comfort us, lead us, and protect us. Even those in the GLBT group that have accepted Christ as their savior have access to forgiveness of sin, and a way of escape from that sin. Satan wants folks to stay in their sin, and to believe his lies. Remember, the scriptures tell us, he is the “Author of Confusion”.
We cannot be ashamed of Christ, nor His Word, and we cannot waver from the truth…..or it becomes a lie. Sadly, on most things that are worldly and pleasureable, we still want to have it both ways. Christ tells us that is impossible. However, since all of us sin, we all have the same access to forgiveness, PRAISE GOD, but we have to study the scriptures so that we know the path we should walk. We should agree to show our GLBT brethren the scriptures in love and in TRUTH, so we are standing upright in our beliefs, steadfast and unwavering. We must love them, and yearn for their souls, and adamantly disagree with the sin.
Christ taught us that loving God first, then our neighbor are keys to a Christian life. When we can do these, and be humble, we can share the TRUTH with those that are confused. This includes a man that has NOT proven that he is qualified to be the President of this “Nation under God”. All 50 states have a reference of thankfulness to Almighty God in some form or fashion, and yet this man refuses to walk in God’s truth, but claims he is a Christian, all the while he refuses to be transparent in his eligibility. All Christians must make a choice to serve God or Mammon, and I serve God, not Mr. Obama. If, and when he releases his passports, his original long form Birth Certificate….not the COLB, and when he allows us to see his transcripts and funding for college, and IF it is all acceptable by our Constitution, I will call him President…..until then, as a Christian, I cannot support a lie. He is NOT above others that have had to comply with these requests, and it should alarm all of us that he has spent almost one million dollars to avoid it.
So, please let us be humble, and repent of our own sins daily, then let us have the courage and strength to show those that profess Christianity in the GLBT group the TRUTH in scripture, and let us do the same for Mr. Obama. None of us, including these can profit from living without repenting of the lie that have believed. Remember that this is about eternity, and our souls, and let us lift them in prayer.

The news of the “celebration” at the White House in support of gay and lesbian “rights” sickened me! It is a disgrace to proclaim that we are a “nation under God” and then publicly and consistently promote issues such as homosexuality and abortion that clearly violate Biblical principles! However, it is not surprising considering that our new President clearly does not love the ideals of freedom, justice, and equality that our country was founded upon! The next election cannot arrive quickly enough—if we are not catapulted and legislated into a dictatorship by that time!
