“…the people of Minnesota deserve a senator who won’t say things that will make you feel uncomfortable.”

That short statement pretty well sums up why the jackass is the symbol of Franken’s political affiliation.

God forbid this guy is elected, but if he is, will the people of MN hold him to that promise when he goes off on a rant about, for example, gay marriage?

Is he aspiring to be a legislator or a counselor of some sort?

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and I might add…DESERVE

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I think the more accurate aphorism is that “you don’t get what you don’t pay for.”

Wish I could remember who said “America gets the government it deserves.”  Here in Maryland, the incumbent Republican governor lost the last election to a rather smarmy character who’d been mayor of Baltimore. Lost by a substantial margin. The pundits said the vote was a “referendum on Bush,” which is a pretty stupid reason to choose where to cast your vote for governor. Nevertheless, two years into this governor’s term, hardly anyone will admit having voted for him.

Figure that Minnesota is the state that gave us Jesse Ventura and Garrison Keillor, and Franken comes as no surprise. Something about those long winters must warp people’s minds…

Well, of course Franken will not be held accountable for what he has done in the past in the name of either “comedy” or political commentary.

However, his commentaries have always dwelt upon any peccadillo he can dredge up from the far distant past of his target du jour (Bush, Rush Limbaugh, etcetera).

It’s the double-standard that makes my blood boil. President Bush is supposed to be accountable for what may or may not have happened during his college and National Guard days, and his supposed misbehavior is laid off to his having a rich family who bribed him out of trouble.

On the other hand, Ted Kennedy, whose family is at least equally rich, has always been given a “walk” on the events at Chappaquiddick bridge.

But,as you’ve said, people get the government they deserve. And if they are foolish enough to buy this double-standard, they are beyond the capacity of people like you and me to educate them.
