One newspaper in Denver ceased publication after 150 years. The other is a mere shadow of its former self. What I have noticed becoming a norm of reporting in this paper is the nearly all of the information is “from anonymous sources” or “from officials who do not want to be identified due to the sensitive nature of the investigation”. If everyone quoted in the story is anonymous then how is the story fact checked? When I read stories that have those qualifiers in them, It causes me to doubt the information contained in the story. The frenzy of “You heard it here first” or “This is an exclusive” are alive and well and come first before learning what really happened. Vetting stories is exactly what is lost on the MSM. They can always make a correction days later on the obituary page.
