MSNBC and Abby Hunstman, the daughter of 2012 Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman, announced yesterday that she will be the newest co-host of MSNBC’s The Cycle, replacing the recently departed S.E. Cupp.
Cupp served as the lone conservative voice on the show and more than held her own against her liberal co-hosts. But Huntsman is at best a moderate, like her father, and will provide less of a contrast on the show going forward, as her experience at HuffPost Live for the last year suggests.
If MSNBC really wanted a solid conservative to replace Cupp, they should have hired Dana Loesch, or Katie Pavlich, who would have surely provided some much needed fireworks, and would have helped boost the network’s moribund ratings.
