Accuracy in Media

CNN’s Jake Tapper, who has raised the ire of conservatives for calling out President Trump for some of the questionable statements he has made, admitted in an interview with Rolling Stone that the media is partisan and that even though he’s skeptical of many of Trump’s statements, that President Obama was guilty of  falsehoods as well.

Tapper on media bias.

I think that’s a trend in journalism that is bothersome. I don’t think its most. But I do think there is a sort of confirmation bias that some media outlets feed and it does trouble me because I try not to do that. Look, there’s always going to be a place for ideological and even partisan journalism. That’s been true as long as this nation has been around and I think that’s great, but I think it’s great as a supplement to more straight news. Look, I was the kid that would go into the library and read The Nation and The American Prospect and more left-leaning magazines, Rolling Stone a lot of time, and then I would go read The National Review and more conservative publications since I wanted to know what everyone was thinking.

Tapper compared the reaction he received from calling out Obama’s falsehoods versus Trump’s.

A lot of people on the left didn’t like it before, and now they like it. I don’t want to compare President Obama and President Trump on these issues because they’re different and the scale isn’t even remotely the same. But President Obama said things that weren’t true and got away with it more for a variety of reasons, and one is the media was much more supportive of him. The Obama White House thought I was self-righteous and a huge pain in the ass.

While Tapper tends to only be loved by conservatives when he’s holding liberals accountable for their words and actions, he is one of the few journalists in Washington that doesn’t let his liberalism infect his reporting on a regular basis, which is probably the best we can hope for given the fact he works for CNN.

  • Mr Irvine, There are two confusing sentences… in quoting Jake Tapper the statement reads: “The Obama White House thought I was self-righteous and a huge pain in the ass.” (ie thought that Tapper himself was the self-righteous PIA), while the opening paragraph reads “that his White House “was self-righteous and a huge pain in the ass.” “.

Is “JOKE ” Tapper looking for a Job at the infotainment Cable Station Fox ?
Because ‘wavering in the Negative’ (at CNN ) about The O Administration is the Kiss-Of-Death !

  • What he did not say that Obama was a serial liar, incompetent for the citizens of this country and clueless on how to fix anything snd last he was on the wrong side of four racial incidents and never apologized to the cities or the police departments!

He’s a slick one like Schumer, Schiff, that WAPo editor/owner. Wouldn’t trust them.

The headline here is ‘fake news’. In the article, Tapper says the White House (and possibly Pres. Obama) felt HE, Tapper, was “self-righteous and a pain in the ass”. That is far different than what the headline says: that Tapper felt Obama was “self-righteous and a pain in the ass” … so … blow harder, Irvine!

(And, ‘self-righteous’ is probably a better place to be rather than ‘non-righteous’ … which is what a lot of wingnut Republicans and their supporters currently seem to be.)

Do you still have healthcare, a job, a living wage, and a pension? Watch what happens to them under 45’s administration. Oh, and Tapper? He still has that annoying lisp he had as a kid. FOH

It isn’t just this freak Jake Tapper. Look around you. The Left and the Establishment Right both are scared to death Donald Trump will succeed. If he does, that will destroy politics as we know it. Politics are the puppets of the Industrial Complex. You give we the People a reason to think on our own we become super dangerous to that Industrial Complex. Time to move on from politics as usual and rise up as the Populist Peoples United.

AT&T will own CNN soon and they will sell it most likely? So Jake and the others will be looking for new gigs? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9bacd5dca11312ccfe187b82bcfb6e151b862068f3077ca4c87fa270de35eb7f.jpg
