I think it was a great comment when he said black people have voted for white democrats most of their lives, my question is why? In the last 30 years what exactly has democrats done for blacks except tell them you need our help for you to make it in this world. When are black people going to wake up and see that don’t really care as long as we keep getting your vote. Most of the black people don’t even know who Obama is but will vote for him just because he is black. Isn’t that racist. If all the white people voted for McCain, you know the left leaning media would be all over that one as racist. I see a double standard here, don’t you. Democrats see blacks as inferior, they say we will always be the victim. You are a victim when you allow yourself to be one. Stand up take life into your own hands for once, don’t be a automatic vote for anyone. We are strong, smart and full of energy, why do we allow the democrats to tell us, you need our help in order to survive? If more people starting thinking for themselves they would figure out that they have more conservative view points than liberal.

Namon: Your last line absolutely is not true. During the last two campaigns, some polling websites were devoted to questioning people what they thought about the *issues,* and then matched them to the candidate that most represented their values, *just based on the issues* and how they rated those issues.

Most people chose Dennis Kucinich by an overwhelming majority.

Sensible health care, clean air and water, education, infrastructure, sound energy policy… not to mention responsible financial oversight… those issues are rightly owned by liberals, not conservatives.

Conservatives use their power to throw everyone else under the bus… er, Straight Talk Jalopy. But it’s not working anymore. The wheels are falling off.

A) Why isn’t this article called, “Chris Rock Promises to ‘Jab’ Barack When Obama is President?”

and B) This assertion: “Most of the black people don’t even know who Obama is but will vote for him just because he is black.” Are there numbers on this? Have you yourself conducted a formal study of these black people, or are you referring to a peer-reviewed article on these unknown black people, or are they just “hypothetical blacks” you’re imagining, blacks somehow without access to media, images or writing? The assumptions in this sentence demonstrate a TRANSCENDENTAL stupidity, and yet you hear the claim time and time again. Never challenged, never scrutinized. 

Has anybody else noticed that? Usually it’s somebody who supports McCain. They’ll say, “You’re just voting for him because he’s black,” which is kind of like saying, “You’re just dyeing your hair pink to get attention,” which is never really true either. Most people with pink hair are actually shy, and just want people to AVOID talking to them (plus they want to signal to other pink-haired people, “I’m safe—I’m not a jerk—and I don’t want to talk to those other jerks either—so let’s you and I be friends”).

This just passes for logic, because it hasn’t been submitted for verification. So please just drop it. It hasn’t been proven, it isn’t going to be proven, and the person who says it always ends up sounding like an ignorant rascist. In fact I can say that the three people I’ve personally spoken to who’ve made the same claim were admittedly rascists. That’s really not good company.

Most black people will vote for Obama because he is black.  We have to admit that. Some I’ve talked with don’t like him, but they think it might be the only chance to have a black president.

To be honest, I totally understand that logic.

I am not a fan of Oprah Winfrey, but I do remember her having as a guest a black girl who was an international model.  Now this was not a Lena Horne, Halley Berry type black, she was a black girl with black features. She was stunning.

Oprah Winfrey said, “Imagine what it would have meant to little black girls to see someone that looked like us being a top model and on magazine covers.”

I think it is suicidal, but I do understand what it would mean for black people to see a black person as President.

It’s the people who will vote for him because they think it makes them look ‘enlightened’ or ‘intellectual’, that bothers me. 

Namon is not all wrong, if more people started to think for themselves, they would vote neither liberal nor conservative but on the issues and for the man.

Neither of those two descriptions mean anything today. 

It is true that the Democrats have tried to destroy the black community with all it’s ‘you’re not capable’, ‘someone owes you’ type poltics.

It is also true, the Republicans have tried to destroy the middle class and this country with their pretense of being captialists, etc.

One takes our money and gives it to a group to make sure they don’t succeed.

The other takes our money and gives it to corporations to make sure they do succeed, mightily.

We all need to start thinking for ourselves and realize both groups are destroying us.  They just have different rehetoric.

Most of the people I talk to are voting on issues. I met with one of my Republican friends last night—yes, even David Goodis, your friendly neighborhood Lefty, has Republican friends—and talked about the election for a long time. He likes McCain somewhat, but doesn’t like Palin at all. “She’s the Antichrist,” he said, which was amusing, seeing that Obama is usually figured this way by people on his side of things. Now, he’s a classical Reputlican: business is business, government is government, and that government should stay out of your lives—including your bedroom, your school, and your place of worship, if you worship at all. Of social conservatives, neoconservatives, etc: “They’re not real Republicans. They’ve totally highjacked my party.” On election day we will pull all the R levers except the big one, which, he says, is fine, because he does like enough of Obama’s ideas, and hopes that Democrats will do something positive if the country is handed back to them. “I hope to god you do something right,” he said.

How people will actually vote, we don’t know from the talk.

I’m thinking Gov. Palin is having that effect on a lot of people – could that be the plan.

What I hear is either,

‘I don’t especially like Obama, but this is the first chance for a black president’

‘we have to vote for McCain to keep Obama out’

One issue that is important is illegal immigration, but both are in step on that.

I don’t see issues, I see parties.

If I thought Obama was just a democrat, I would not be worried, but I don’t think he is.

Oh, goodness, I don’t want to be color blind.  I notice the various features God gave people. 

I refuse not to notice – I would miss a lot of God’s beautiful handiwork.

You can take notice of differentness in people without making a value judgement from it.

If you look hard enough, you will find people who make judgements based on skin color, nationalities, but you do have to look hard and sometimes have to interpret things in the wrong way.

Contrary to the talk of Sen. Obama, his minister and the Revs. – most people in this country don’t spend their every waking moment trying to figure out ways to keep the black man down.

We are all working hard to make a living, raise our families, get along with everyone (mostly) and do what we can to keep this country going.

Our history books said it was the Hitler’s army who shot the nose off the Sphinx.  In fact, there was a cartoon depicting it.

Napolean could have as I bought an old book of pictures of Africa published at the turn of the century and there was the Sphinx with no nose.  So contrary to my history book, Hitler didn’t do it – unless it was repaired.

This was a pretty good interview, Chris made some good points. The voters spoke, and now we will see how obama performs over the next few years.
