As someone who was born in California and lived here for 60 years, I can tell you the Democrats have literally destroyed this state. I myself was a Democrat for 32 years, and now I wouldn’t vote for ANY Democrat running for office. They have given this state away to the highest bidder and continue to do so. It is now the state of CalifMex. We have had three generations of welfare and entitlements with nothing gained but gangs and complete towns with bars on all the windows and doors on all the homes, graffiti, trash and schools that you wouldn’t even want to walk on the campuses. I was just in Santa Barbara yesterday, and 8 out of 10 people are Hispanic, I actually counted them and what I am saying is not a guess. I went into a Jack-in-the-Box and of the 20 people I was the only non-Hispanic and the only one who spoke in English. That was SANTA BARBARA!!!! We have been invaded and our state looks like a toilet. I drove down Garden St there in Santa Barbara and some of the stores looked just like the stores in Tiajauna. This is what the politicians have done to California. If you care about the possibility of California ever recovering, and chances are it won’t, get the Democrats out of office, starting with Boxer.

Well Major, If I could sell my home and pack up all my belongings and still have enough cash to leave, I’d be out of this state for sure. You have no idea what this state has become. I rarely hear English spoken and everything is so trashy. I’m old enough to remember when we had good schools, hospitals and our roads didn’t have potholes everywhere. Today, all the houses around me have 15 or more people living in them and the garages, or sometimes vans parked in the yard, shopping carts abandoned everywhere, graffiti, trash (especially dirty diapers) and gangs. You can’t get a job unless you speak Spanish and most of the city and county offices are close half of the time. Yet, the welfare has not been cut, or all the services use by the illegals. You go to the schools and you see nothing but Hispanic kids, who can barely speak English or not at all. The state spends over 50 billion on education each year, yet these kids can barely read or write. But their leaders keep telling them to have more babies, that they are going to out breed the gringos and take over the land. Yes, they are on video telling the illegal that!

Those in other states better look at what has happened here in California and not let it happen in your state.

I suppose SF (the Hippie Movement) was ground zero for those now running our government, but it was still a nice place and popular. When I was out there last (16 months ago) I was shocked at just how bad it has become.

Several of us had been invited to San Luis Obispo for a web site business and we all did our code before we flew out there, thus had a couple of paid days left. So I asked them where or what they wanted to see, with some from other countries, they of course wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

We had stopped to have lunch, upon leaving we were approached by what looked to be gang members, they wanted all of our money. I put on one of The Major’s favorite caps, U.S. Border Patrol (official cap) and spoke to them in near fluent Spanish as I fitted my cap. The shot out of there like greased lightning. I will not post what I said to them.

You would be surprised at what Spanish and Arabs will say about you when they think you do not understand them. I don’t let them know I understand unless it is a must.

I am like you Jean, I will never vote for another Democrat.

Jean (#5).  I sympathize with your situation.  I have friends and relatives in Calif who are feeling much like you do, and who are wishing they had sold their homes and gotten out several years ago. In fact my aunt has her house on the market now to see what she might be able to do. 

Funny thing I have not noticed anything like what you have described here in Mesa, Az. Everything is absolutely clean and beautiful.  But no doubt that if Americans do not do something about this , as you stated, “IT” will eventually be creeping in everywhere ! 

Please know that if you should ever need some help finding a place to live in Mesa, I would certainly be happy to help !

Wow !  Not only have you had scarey experiences outside the country, but also inside the country. Sure happy that you had that cap !  I have a friend in Phoenix who somehow received an ICE cap and who has talked about going into places where illegals might be and as soon as they see him, they quickly scurry !  Perhaps many more Americans should wear ICE caps, or Border Patrol caps. (lol)

Don’t know what it is, I do not look for trouble, it just seems as though it seeks me out, but then again my wife thinks I am nuts. All those months of being accused of spying for Interpol (nothing unusual about that in Libya). The beatings, manage to get out (with some help), and returned under six months later.

The southern part of Houston is deemed a Sanctuary City, but they have spread throughout the city, have lost count of the times I have called ICE (a policeman friend suggested I do so, since they are not allowed, unless a crime has been committed).

Major; Post #10, know what you mean, we have offices and plants in Canada too…remind me to find my buddy up in northern Alberta, he worked briefly with us in the Sahara and is a guide. He knows a place up north of Red Deer and can only get there by snowmobile. It is a frozen lake and cabins. Each comes with an Ice Auger and a sliding fishing hut, three cords of pre-cut wood, hunting is allowed and ski planes bring in supplies every two weeks. No Internet, no television, no radio…and don’t go skiing without leaving the orange marker flags in the snow if you get lost. Talk about peaceful…

Wes….I think it is amazing that you survived all of that terrible horror !  Were you married at the time you were in Libya ?  If so, I can’t even begin to imagine the fear and terrible worry that your wife must have been going through, as well as your parents. And I wonder how any person manages to keep the faith during captivity, along with all the suffering which you endured.

Diane, I would never take my wife into an unfriendly and dangerous environment. When I was swept out of there and into Cairo, checked myself out of the hospital there within a day (just needed a wheel chair, and pain meds). My faith was never lost, it helped me get through the ordeal. I worked there for six years, you would be surprised at how many people would quit between the first two to three weeks. Getting through the what was being done to you is mind over matter, and never show them fear.

I asked my handler to call my parents and wife to let them know I would call as soon as possible, my wife had been staying with them till they found out something. It was difficult to speak and too many ears listening.

Then I had to decide what or how much to tell them to put their minds at ease. They only were told the very basics of what had happened. When they wheeled me out of Customs at DFW (was detained briefly for questions), they didn’t recognize me till I was almost to them. If you wish, I can email you where I can be more candid.

Oh, Wes ….I never thought for one minute that you would have taken your wife there.  I picured her here in the states, actually; if you were even married at that time.  So sorry that I led you to believe otherwise. I actually imagined all of your family here in the states and being absolutely beside themselves with tremendous worry. and fearful for your health, as well as for your life. 
And yes, I certainly would appreciate an e-mail regarding any thing else that you wish to share regarding that period.  But only if you wish to talk about that time, of course. 

By the way, I saw Castro’s daughter on Huckabee last night , and of course that very same show airs tonight.  It was interesting listening to what all she had to share ..such as how she escaped from Cuba, (in 1993, I believe ) ; etc, etc.

Sorry if I implied I would have taken her (or our son) to a dangerous country, wasn’t my intent. Often I would fly them to Europe or somewhere nice and meet them when I would be flying in and spend a week or so (the company paid for all first class flights). So she could see places, two days in Paris was enough for her, so we drove down to Marseilles for a week, folks are so much nicer there and treat you well. But yes, most of the time she was here in the States. It was a pleasant break to do site seeing with someone rather than alone, and get out of the harsh environments.

Yes, my family were beside themselves with worry and not knowing what was happening. When friends would visit me and bring food, I always told them to phone them and that I was okay, I didn’t want them worrying too much. It was almost a 10 hour drive from our camp to Sidra, sometimes when someone was in the Cells area, had they been caught giving me food, they would have paid a price.

As for Castro’s daughter, Alina Fernandez Revuelta I have seen on Fox a couple of years ago, but did record Huckabee…Michael Moore would not put her in his movie, she wanted to set him straight about the truth. All those Americans who think Cuba is a good and just place (a.k.a. Sean Penn and others) should just stay there for good.

You are right, she escaped Cuba in 1993 disguised as a Spanish Tourist.
