An effigy of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hanging from a noose.
The First Amendment tester who came up with the idea says it’s in the spirit of Halloween.
Chad Michael Morisette says “it should be seen as art, and as within the month of October. It’s Halloween, it’s time to be scary it’s time to be spooky.”
I can think of a few other words. “Vile” comes to mind.
Who are these people? Why do they think this is acceptable behavior?
The owner is trying to pass this off as art? If this had been a Democrat hanging from a noose the outrage from the media would be unrelenting. So far nary a peep.

Just on the news, a complaint was made as calling it Hate Speech, the Sheriff’s Department disagreed and is letting it stand in the spirit of Halloween.
Go figure!!
A neighbor should do the same with Obama and see what happens given that ruling. If it were here, I would give it a try.
I agree with both of you, if it were an effegy of Obama hanging from a noose, someone would be in jail and rioting would break out…probably in California….
Often, I believe criminal “hate” is confused with criminal “ignorance”.
Unfortunately, there’s been a significant dumbing-down of society and culture over the last 25 years. And, it occurs equally throughout the entire political spectrum. This particular effigy-handing moron may be assumed to be an extremist lefty loon - - while the two extremist righty ‘white power’ skinheads planning to kill 88 black school kids and 14 “important Negroes” are even more moronic and deficient (and, probably, dangerous). The dunderheads who insist on flying their Confederate flags and the the San Franciso ‘gay pride’ nitwits desecrating a church in their search for recognition are just as bad.
You can call it censorship, but I believe we need a whole new catergory of laws REQUIRING that certain “standards of civility” be observed at all times, in all ways, in all mediums. And, the public schools should become much more engaged in the promotion of socialization and acculturation in accordance with the best of traditional American social and cultural standards.
Isn’t it about time for a 9.6 earthquake to hit the LA LA area? Fruits and nuts!!!
The two white power skinheads (planned to behead 88 black kids and assassinate Obama and 13 other important black leaders) arrested in “The Heartland” yesterday are apparently even “fruitier” and “nuttier” and, I would guess, much more dangerous.
“Taking sides” in these kinds of things is just as moronic as are the ignoramuses, the lame brains, and the criminal sorts who actually perpetrate these kinds of things.

In the late 80’s George Carlin said about California; “California is like a bowl of cereal, what ain’t fruits and nuts, are flakes.” Never a truer statement, of course Carlin became so bitter, he was no longer funny.
If a 9.6 hits the Hamlin and San Andreas faults, most of the west coast will disappear.

I agree there is freedom of speech, but if this doll was an Obama doll then a “hate crime” would have occured, but becasue the doll isnt of a black person - it’s acceptable! Nonsense. It is time to rewrite the laws. And to believe that the Sarah Palin doll is a mere part of a Halloween decoration is more foolish than ever.

I believe the legal definition of a “hate” crime limits the matter to crimes committed against someone based ONLY on their race, religion, or national origin. It does not include ‘gender’ and, in this case, wouldn’t likely include ‘race’ because the perp is a white guy, plus, there are no indications that religion or national origin are in play. So, yes, if a white guy displayed a hanging effigy of a black guy, it could, by the law, be considered a “hate” crime. In this instance, it seems clear that the “hate” crime statute could not be applied.

First, I understand the legal definition of “hate” crimes and I know gender does not apply…but that doesnt mean I agree with the limits within the definition, particularly when a vice presidential nominee is concerned.
Second, yes I know that some vile southerners who practiced this crime in reality….it goes without saying….still I think to see a Palin doll is a noose is objectionable and should be criminal. But I feel that same way when the America flag is burned…sure its legal to do it, but I know it is wrong!
so its ok for sarah palin to hang from a noose but now since a guy with big kohones hung barack up as a halloween decoration its all of the sudden a hate crime
