heck, I had no idea she had gone over to ABC, and in fact I saw a clip of her doing an interview on Beck’s show tonight, noted the caption below that said “ABC News”, and thought to myself, “Hmm, where did ABC find somebody that looks-just-like… Christiane Amanpour, at CNN?!” In all honesty, I’ve seen some of her reportage, and especially on the Balkans and other middle east work she’s done, it seemed that there was a bit of an anti-west bias. I knew she grew up in Iran, and in fact I am a student of Persian history myself (it’s a lot to take in, from before Cyrus the Great to Ahmadinijad.) So, I’ve always had a warm spot in my heart for the Persian citizens who’ve had to put up with tyrants–for centuries! But Christiane is not without her own biases. Shales, however, is off base. Keep to the issues, and less sniping at your colleagues’ successes. Let an outsider like me say it: Christiane won’t last a year over there. Domestic politics isn’t her gig.
