USA Today Fudges Data to Claim Kerry "Victory" Over Bush

USA Today claims that John Kerry outperformed Bush. USA Today said a poll showed that Kerry held an “edge over President Bush following first debate. The story was based on telephone interviews with 615 registered voters who watched the debate.

But if you actually analyzed the answers to other questions asked of those who gave the overall better score to Kerry, you found that Bush came out the winner on the most significant issues For instance, asked whether either candidate demonstrated he is tough enough to do the job, Bush won 54-37.

People were asked, “regardless of which presidential candidate you support, please tell me if you think John Kerry or George W. Bush would better handle the situation in Iraq.” The answer: Bush wins 54-43.

Asked, “Who do you trust more to handle the responsibilities of commander-in-chief of the military,” Bush won 54-44.

Asked “Who was more believable,” Bush won 50-45.
