Accuracy in Media

The media say President Obama is good at sharing condolences with victims of terrorism. It would be better for him to apologize to the victims and their families. He should start by saying, “I’m sorry that my FBI failed to stop this radical Islamic killer. I bear responsibility for this failure of intelligence.”

Orlando is where we really need an Obama apology tour to begin. In the past, he has apologized to foreigners for American foreign policy. Now he needs to apologize to Americans for allowing a foreign ideology to flourish in the United States, one which he has refused to name and condemn.

On Tuesday, when he rejected a ban on Muslim immigration, Obama said, “The Orlando killer, one of the San Bernardino killers, the Fort Hood killer—they were all U.S. citizens.” What was his point? That the Muslim refugees are not a threat but their children are? Is that supposed to be reassuring? Does it make sense to import more Muslims and let them raise children as Americans who then assume the foreign identity of the jihadists who want to kill us? Is that somehow acceptable? Doesn’t that increase the odds of having more killers on American soil?

Clearly, Obama is gambling with American lives, and Americans are losing their lives as a result. How many more will die, only to be remembered by Obama as he hugs the relatives of the victims?

No matter how he tries to spin it, the fact is that Omar Mateen was subject to two separate FBI investigations and was cleared both times. This is outrageous. Clearly, the FBI failed. And Obama failed in his constitutional obligations to protect the American people from foreign threats. Based on what he said about San Bernardino and Fort Hood, Obama knew the threat was real. But the terrorism keeps coming. Nothing seems to change.

On Monday, FBI director James Comey said the bureau would “look hard at our own work to see whether there is something we should have done differently.” But he had already come to a conclusion. “So far,” he said, “the honest answer is: I don’t think so.” Not even 24 hours had passed after the massacre and Comey had already conducted a thorough probe into the FBI’s handling of the case? Forty-nine people are dead and the FBI could not have done anything differently?

The FBI has done it Obama’s way for seven years. The Heritage Foundation’s David Inserra reports that there have been 22 plots or attacks since the start of 2015. The assault from radical Islam is accelerating, and yet it’s business as usual in the Obama administration and at the FBI. We are supposed to believe they are doing the best they can. If so, many more will die.

FBI Director Comey admits that in July of 2014 the killer’s name surfaced when the FBI Miami office was investigating “the Florida man who had blown himself up for the Nusra Front in Syria.” Comey said, “We learned from the investigation that the killer knew him casually from attending the same mosque in that area of Florida.” He added, “Our investigation turned up no ties of any consequence between the two of them.”

Omar Mateen and Moner-Muhammed Abu Salha, the Florida man referred to by Comey, are from St. Lucie County, Florida, and attended the same mosque. Is Comey suggesting it’s all just a coincidence? Does he really believe that? Does he expect us to believe that?

Meanwhile, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) postponed the release of a report, “Confronting Fear,” because of the carnage in Orlando. The report is about “Islamophobia,” a mental condition that is said to characterize those who want to expose radical Islam in the United States. If the FBI had displayed a small dose of Islamophobia, perhaps it could have stopped the slaughter.

CAIR is saying that those of us who want to live in peace away from these killers are guilty of “Islamophobia.” This writer surfaced on one of CAIR’s lists of “Islamophobic individuals.” CAIR picked my name off a list maintained by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that has been advising the Justice Department and the FBI about the existence of “extremists” in American society. This would be funny if it were it not for the fact that people are dying because of this mentality, which is the real condition that should be characterized as an illness. These people are incapable of recognizing a threat that poses a very real danger to them and their families.

When your family members are killed by Islamic terrorists, will Obama’s hug be good enough for you?

pho·bia – ?f?b??/Submit noun: an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.

Sorry Cliff, that has to be the stupidest thing you ever wrote.
We need more rational, less irrational reaction to Islam. The left and our ruling class in DC, feeds on phobias.

  • Excellent

  • M J

We need more Islam-Awarea! Get It?

  • jug

The problem is, that both the “powers that be”, and the media, call “cold hard reasoning”, Islamophobia!
So Cliff is EXACTLY right, he just used “an already supported”, (by reverse psychology), the common, “derogatory” term used by the other side.

The really “stupid part”, is someone that cant realise reality!

  • Ted

“Profiling” makes sense, always has, always will – in spite of the propaganda against it that might come from CAIR, La Raza, the ACLU, etc.

  • Richard Hellstrom

Why do the homosexual based colleges hire people like Farrokh Sekaleshfar who advocate the extermination of the homosexual race and then run public campaigns to hate the Jews , classify Christians as terrorist and to love the Muslims ! Was gay marriage that important ?

  • Steven Barrett

Just what we need, more racial, ethnic and religious profiling. What next, justifications of genteel forms of ethnic cleansing through sneaky but “legal” forms of segregation? Hey why not learn from the Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, Bosnians and Montenegrans how they pulled it off till they got tired of having to pay the ultimate costs for their brand of islamo or christo-phobias. How original is that? Just what we need, to imitate the worst ideas from the Land of No Love Lost, the Balkans, a land so screwed up for centuries by ethnic/religious hatred and suspicions that Germany’s Iron Chancellor Otto von Bismarck wisely described the land of the Southern Slavs “not worth the life of a single German.”
What price are some “conservatives,” “social conservatives and religious conservatives,” much less who claim to be strong Christians that they’re willing to create within the United States the same kind of atmosphere that helped breed one of the nastiest set of conflicts in European and Western history, esp. because the Christians at least, forgot what their Savior said about killing and more than a few other things about getting along with others?
I lived in Morocco as a young chlld and still have nothing but pleasant memories of a childhood spent there during the mid-fifties. Sure, things have changed and we’re not so well respected in most other places of the Islamic world. And I’m not oblivious to the fact there are no doubt people living in Morocco as in other Islamic nations that hate our guts. But why? Oh well, we’re not supposed to ask that question among true blue Americans. Nor am I a believer in the “Blame Amerika first” crowd. They greatly helped to undermine our combat efforts during the Vietnam War and handcuffed the attitudes of so many confused but ever “so well meaning” diplomats in that war’s disastrous aftermath. There is a middle ground here and it doesn’t call for exercising phobic behaviors or shouting down everybody who disagrees with a Trump or somebody like him with shouts of USA! ad nauseum with no sense of how we come across in such an embarrassing jingoistic manner.
Before we go off on tangents, blaming this guy or that guy, this ethnic group or that sub group and like Joe McCarthy whipping out a list of “suspects” to round up before even thinking if those people really belong on that list of “usual suspects,” it’s time to really give thought to what we’re so gung ho to urge everbody to get in on the act of repeating, only this time with a religious twist: Religious McCarthyism.
Pssssst, look around some of you, you might even find a conservative Muslim. Surprise! Surprise! (Especially if he wants to stay here and raise his family in such a paranoid nuthouse climate..

Nobody could possibly detect and detain or deport all terrorists. We need more citizens to arm themselves thus making it more of a fair fight. BTW, Obummer has become the disaster that some of predicted he would, just sayin`.

  • Seedman

I do not fear homosexuality. Rather I agree with God that such activity is a perversion of sexuality, a great sin, which apart from being born again, merits His eternal punishment; the second death.

  • AndRebecca

A rational reaction to Islam would be to get the Christians and Jews out of the M.E., except in Israel of course, and let the Muslims live there by themselves and support themselves without our tax dollars. And stop bringing any of them here. We should have a rational fear of Islamists after 1300 years of dealing with them. Talk about learning deficit.

  • AndRebecca

We dealt with the problem of not getting along with people for hundreds of years by not allowing them to immigrate to America. We kept lots of people out, and should have kept more out. We had problems with all of the non-Protestant Western European Immigrant groups. Our crime rates would go up every time too many of them would come here.

  • Ellen

When did God say that homosexuality is a perversion of sexuality? Homosexuality is I think a quirk in the development of the fetus that most homosexuals have nothing to do with. God said “What you do to the least of your brothers, you do unto me”. I am not a homosexual but I believe that people should be left alone to be what they are, as long as it is within the law. You do not want anyone to tell you what to do, do you? Tolerance would be a good virtue to possess. But not tolerance for crimes or criminal intents.

  • Ellen

Unfortunately, terrorists are not our only problem. There are people too in our country who kill other people. Remember school shootings? Guns are only part of the problem. Society too can be a problem. When a group of people think they have a license to gang up on anyone. Or harm, torment, bully anyone. Stressing people. And those
bullied in schools come back as shooters. These actions are usually presented as harmless or a lot of fun. And these people justifies their actions no matter how senseless, that others believe and condone. But not to the victim/s for sure. We need to be cognizant that what we do to others may have disastrous consequences, not only to the victims but to others. Not until society change about stressing people out, as a matter of course, or as a group action, these killings will continue.

  • Ellen

I agree with you, except “for problems with non-Protestant Western European Immigrant groups” . What you are saying is, the Protestants never commit a crime? Only the other religions? Like the Catholics, Jewish, Anglicans, etc? I think that is absolutely false.

  • AndRebecca

There are records of immigrant groups and crime. First of all, Anglicans are Protestants… We have had problems with different groups of immigrants like the Italians bringing in gang crime (mafia). And, many eastern Europeans were criminals as well as the Irish. Our immigrant inner cities have been known for being corrupt for over a hundred years. Violent crime has gone up in America steadily since the early 1900s and really jumped after WWII when we eased immigration laws. Immigration is not the only reason for the increase in crime. After WWII the federal government started making laws and decrees in order to get rid of Christianity… You should be able to tell Christianity is under attack by looking around you. Christians don’t make the nasty movies and magazines and push blatant sex, materialism, and self-centeredness… We not only have more crime but other degenerative problems as well. Many of the degenerative problems would have been considered criminal not all that long ago.

  • Steven Barrett

Well now Rebecca, I guess I know where not to seek accurate information when it comes to religious history and tolerance in American history.
For all intents and purposes, I consider myself Anglican, leaning more towards the high/middle liturgical forms of worship. ‘Tis my inner Catholic speaking. But should I get around to expressing my “inner Irishman”? Me dearie, I don’t think ya’d like it all. Technically the high/middle Anglicans are “Protestant,” but thankfully they surely don’t cotton to whatever kind of Protestantism you’re peddling, or even have the gall, nerve and … well, you’re not a boyo so, I let that much rest there. But you’re not doing a good job of coverin’ up yer much tainted spiritual underwear. Seems as if it’s still wearing splotch stains from the shit out of the arses of both Oliver Cromwell and all his calvary steeds. Talk about tough stains. See, if you could make it to a Catholic or Traditionalist Anglican variety of a Catholic Confession, at least the spots will be removed, provided you’re at least genuinely contrite. As for the ability of others to forget your open transactions, such as your posts on immigration, Catholics, etc, be thankful our God is both mighty and ever forgiving. As for his fallen children, well, we have a tendency to remember very deep slights and the tendencies of others who should know better, but act as if they refuse to in the light of considerable evidence and ample opportunities to admit they messed up and won’t repeat the mistake. Unfortunately my dear, this appears to be at least a five-century long series of “mistakes” when it comes to religious issues. The other evidence of English “mistakes” goes back considerably further in time. Protestantism was just an even dandier excuse to make the Irish pay for just being Irish. Think I’m harsh? Then perhaps you should bone up on the motives expressed by British parliamentary leaders during the Great Famine; a deliberate policy of starvation which contributed greatly to the numbers of so many criminals and other undesireables whose real crime in the eyes of their former British overlords and future American WASP economic oppressors.
I won’t deny that we’ve produced our share of bums, criminals and outright scaberous creatures since we’ve arrived. The instigators of the draft riots all the way to Whitey Bulger provide, I’m sure lots of “material” for haters of the Irish and Catholicism, but c’mon, you can’t be serious to lump all of us in with the bums of NY’s “Five Corners” and Whitey’s henchmen and even the so-called “Marshalls” of “Southie”… Whitey’s home town just south of downtown Boston. What a grand bunch those boyos were, all pasty-faced, big burley and expert in pronouncing the N-word with a distinct flat Southie accent. It came out like “Niggahhhh” … no doubt for special added effect. And I don’t doubt that some of those boyos and their missus waiting for ’em back in their Southie and Dot-chester Three Deck-ahs, were mostly Catholic. They just didn’t care for those dahhhkies just the same way you have no use for damn near everybody who isn’t a WASP.
Now that I’m in with the Angies, those “half-protestant Protestants” who in some ways observe the good old rituals of the Latin (western rite), it looks like I’ll have to put my “No Protestants Are Allowed” sign in the attic for good. I’d just hate like hell to even think I’d be in the same league as yourself. And begosh n’ begorah, please Dearie, don’t tell me you’ve got a set of freshly dry-cleaned sheets set aside for a special occasion or more!

“What you do to the least of your brothers, you do unto me.”

A practicing homosexual is not a brother. If people really want to know God’s view on sodomy all they have to do is read a King James Bible. It’s not difficult. Not an NIV which had a Lesbian on the rewrite committee, but a good old fashioned KJV Bible.

Mere mortal men wanting “to be as gods,” will say and do what they want for the “good of man,” because their hearts are evil, but people ought to be clear on what God and His Word says about the sin of Sodom. From the front cover of the Bible to the back, The LORD calls it abomination. You are literally ignorant of God and His Word, if you do not understand this.

“When did God say that homosexuality is a perversion of sexuality?”

The Bible says in Romans 1, that God “gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:” In other words, God considered these people so vile, that He handed them over to Satan. God abandons a people who go so far in rebellion and depravity. The Bible calls it dishonoring their own bodies between themselves. That my friend is a perversion.

    Romans 1

“17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

    18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error
    which was meet.

    28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
    ——

If you are PROUD of your SIN, you are not a brother. That is what “gay pride” is, being proud of your SIN. Not ashamed of it. If you are waving God’s covenant in His face while practicing abomination, you are not a brother. The Lord Jesus Christ seeks and saves those who are convicted of their sin and come to Him with a contrite heart. Not a proud one.

If you believe that there ought to be statues of Sodomites naked in the act erected up and down the highways, it is as you say — your business. But don’t be acting like you know the mind of God to Christians who know God and His Bible. You are only fooling yourself. You are definitely not fooling the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

David Rockefeller can have 5 more heart transplants, the CPUSA, the MSM, the LGBT, Washington DC, the UN and every other foul spirit, can shoot, crucify, hang, try to silence, jail, fine, or otherwise persecute Christians all they want. They can run, dance and sing all they want. They are not going to get out of God’s judgment. They will not get out of it. Not in the end. They shalt not make it.

The LORD is SOVEREIGN over all.

Is it ‘islamophobic’ to honestly describe islam?

Islam is not merely a religion, and spiritual elements are just a small part of its
doctrine. In truth, Islam is a comprehensive political, social, and economic
system with its own authoritarian legal framework, sharia, which aspires to
    govern all aspects of life.
This framework rejects individual liberty, freedom of conscience, freedom to govern
ourselves irrespective of any theocratic code, equality of men and women,
equality of Muslims and non-Muslims, and economic liberty, including the uses
of private property (in Islam, owners hold property only as a custodians for
the umma, the universal Muslim nation, and are beholden to the Islamic state
regarding its use). Sharia prohibits the preaching of creeds other than Islam,
the renunciation of Islam, any actions that divide the umma, and homosexuality.
Its penalties are draconian, including savagely executed death sentences for
    apostates, homosexuals, and adulterers.

Is it ‘islamophobic’ to quote the Koran?

Here are some of the grisly passages from the Koran: “Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them.” Koran 2:191 “Make war on the infidels living in your neighborhood.”
Koran 9:123 “When opportunity arises, kill the infidels wherever you catch
them.” Koran 9:5 “Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable.” Koran 3:85 “The Jews and the Christians are perverts fight them.” Koran 9:30 “Maim and crucify the infidels if they
criticize Islam” Koran 5:33 “Punish the unbelievers with garments of
fire, hooked iron rods, boiling water melt their skin and bellies.” Koran
22:19 “The unbelievers are stupid urge the Muslims to fight them.”
Koran 8:65 “Muslims must not take the infidels as friends.” Koran
3:28 “Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the
Qur’an.” Koran 8:12 “Muslims must muster all weapons to terrorize the
    infidels.” Koran 8:60

  • Walt

There is no such thing as “radical islam”. Acts of terror are “orthodox Islam”. Read the Koran and the Hadith. The pop media and politicians, Including Trump, do the American public a great disservice by perpetrating the myth of so-called “radical” Islam. Mohammed committed acts of political murder in Medina that gave him a following in the millions. That is orthodoxy.

Obama does not care about American security, his long term goal is for Muslims to overthrow the government in the next 25 years and establish Sharia law.

Why do we have to fear as opposed to just being more vigilant and on our toes against any and all foreign and domestic enemies. We do a great bang up job on doing ourselves in. Have we forgotten Tim McVeigh, the two kids in Columbine, the terrorist of the South who exploded a bomb at the Olympic Plaza in Atlanta in ’96 and of course, our most recent butchers, the couple in California and Mateen in FL.? Rather than engaging in actions more redolent of former East German Erich Honecker (the real father of the Berlin Wall from its inception) or even our home-grown paranoid par excellance, “Tail Gunner Joe” McCarthy, or listening to the likes of our more recent imitator of Mussolini, The Donald . . . what would it hurt to open our Bibles, (both Testaments) the earlier writings of all our Founding Fathers, esp. both Adamses and Jefferson, all of Lincoln’s speeches on how to get along, and add in both Roosevelts, pretty soon we might all start to learn how to get along with each other better. Even the REAL Ronald Reagan, not the one-dimensional all right wing version, but the more commonsensical Reagan, and both Bushes should be required reading for today’s social as well as fiscal conservatives. Not the Mussoliniesque nonsense of Trump or the crass selfishness of Ayn Rand.
Would it really hurt for more of our self-confessed contemporary conservatives to blow the dust off their books writen by Peter Viereck and Wm. F. Buckley, Jr., or even an far more astute commentator for our time, Joe Scarborough. (Well, I know, he makes too much sense and doesn’t hesitate to hammer it home morning after morning. Perhaps if today’s so-called “conservative movement” would also pay more attention to its esteemed historian George Nash, who knows it might learn something besides whatever neo-troglodytist drivel that seems to be almost de rigeur. In other words, less paranoia and more maturity folks. It’ll help draw you away from the radio talkies, Fox “news” and the need to look at every rug as your next meal for relieving tension.

  • RMThoughts

Why do interventionists spend so much time discussing things like radical Muslims, regular Muslims, Islam, and the Koran?
How many Americans objected to that U.S. partnership with and support of radical Muslims in Afghanistan?

How many Americans have objected to the U.S. installation of two official Islamic regimes in Iraq, Afghanistan and now in Syria? How many have participated in protests and demonstrations against U.S. troops for fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan to preserve two official Islamic regimes?

Answer: None, not even those who say that America’s new official enemy is Islam, the Koran, and Muslims. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Ever since the installation of official Islamic regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, Americans have effusively thanked the troops for their “service” in Iraq and Afghanistan, notwithstanding the fact that such “service” has consisted of installing and protecting two official Islamic regimes.

Isn’t that ironic and, well, somewhat humorous? If Islam is the problem, if the Koran is the problem, if Muslims are the problem, then how is that no American is protesting the installation and protection of two official Islamic regimes? Why isn’t anyone objecting to the fact that thousands of U.S. soldiers have died in the protection of two official Islamic regimes? Indeed, why isn’t anyone calling on the U.S. national-security state to fight the “enemy” by effecting regime changes in Iraq and Afghanistan that would oust those official Islamic regimes from power?
Here’s why: Their supreme goal is to maintain the U.S. national-security state’s continued intervention in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Nothing must interfere with that goal. The entire well-being of the national-security establishment depends on it. Without the old Cold War or at least a renewed Cold War with China or Russia, the Middle East intervention is the only thing that can guarantee ever-increasing budgets, influence, and power for the Pentagon, CIA, and NSA and the rest of the military-industrial complex.

ISIS has been known to torture gays before killing them. They use brutal methods like Fisting or hand-balling which involves inserting the hand or fist into the anus. While it is difficult to believe that a fist can be cruelly inserted into a human anus, it is possible. The damage from fisting can result in a sphincterectomy or colostomy. Try to imagine how you can sink to lower depths of depravity than doing something like this to a human being.
    .
As well as fists, they also insert large objects, often called toys, into the anus: dildos, vibrators etc. This can and does lead to serious internal damage; in particular puncturing of the intestinal wall and seepage of faecal matter into the abdomen, which can result in death. But at least you will die in a politically correct way.

Oh, wait a minute that is what gays to to each other. The implication is that we must also embrace perverted gay sex if we oppose this senseless Islamic violence.

And who are you Seedman to make this determination? What are your theological credentials. Are you ordained with the powers to forgive sins as a Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican cleric possesses upon receiving Holy Orders?
Just walking around with a Bible and possessing just enough Bible Study class book knowledge to make you a dangerous pain in the arse to so many people you come across to as a pompous jerk does not grant you the right to say who goes to hell or not.

  • Seedman

I am a born again saint who possesses the mind of Christ (John 3:3, Philippians 4:21 1Corinthians 2:16). Also, the message about homosexuality and the gospel is an aroma from death to death to those who are perishing and life to life to those being saved (2Corinthians 2:14-16.)

  • Seedman

“Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, that their bodies might be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions, for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error (Romans 1:24-27). The law of God supersedes the law of man. The “quirk” you refer to is rightly termed “sin”. Jesus said that the “brother” term is to be said of only those who do the will of God (Mark 3:35). Homosexuals and those who support/tolerate/give credence to this abhorrent lifestyle are no such thing. The context of Scripture you reference Mathew 25:40 and following is not of homosexuals/unsaved but of “brethren”. “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” Only those born again (twice) physically and spiritually will avoid the second death /Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:14-15)

Well now me boyo, here’s one for the ages and a good toast. Two Micks went into a bar and ran into a saint who’s name was “Seedman,” not Padraig. Now it’s not that the Catholics or their close cousins, the Orthodox, Anglicans and the Prussians, oops forgive me, the Lutherans, don’t read their Bibles. Oh they do and I can attest that as much about the Catholics since I was duly Baptized, raised and daily catechized by my parents, then Confirmed and received all the necessary Sacraments, save for one which I’m far too young at 65 to be “ready for.” There was always the Bible which both of ’em would regularly point to if my brothers and I had any disagreements over what the good fathers and nuns taught us, or our parents were trying to reinforce for the sake of our soul’s eternal salvation. And I’m forever grateful. But one thing for sure my friend, they never would’ve let us come out alive of any “disagreement” we had in which any of us would’ve been so thick as a brassy trumpet to say “In ‘2Corinthians …'” it says.” Our dearly departed mother, who had a stare that could stop global warming in its tracks, could’ve left one or all of us three boyos resembling Lot’s wife in a Midtown Manhattan nano second if we committed ” … [that kind] of mistake.”
BTW, nice try and it’ll be two shots of Irish whiskey for your two Corinthian compadres.

Those who linger long over wine, those who go to taste mixed wine. do not look on the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly; at the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, and your mind will utter perverse things. And you will be like one who lies down in the middle of the sea, or like one who lies down on the top of the mast.
