Accuracy in Media

When men dress as women and serve openly in the U.S. military, there are bound to be problems identifying these people. But don’t worry. The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) has come to the rescue. This special interest group, backed financially by all the major media organizations, has issued special guidance in the form of an “open letter” to the media on how the “transgendered” are supposed to be covered.

For example, it says that referring to “transgender woman” or “transgender man” is acceptable on first reference, but that subsequent references should refer to a transgender woman as a “woman” or a transgender man as a “man.”

In other words, forget about someone’s DNA, the scientific and objective measure of one’s gender and sexual identity. The “open letter” makes that clear, noting that someone’s sex “assigned at birth” is not relevant to one’s “gender identity.”

We are told that the term “transvestite” is an “antiquated term” and should be avoided.

Transvestite or cross-dresser are terms that used to refer to Corporal Klinger wearing dresses and women’s hats as a character on the comedy show M*A*S*H. It was his attempt to get discharged. Today, in real life, Obama’s Defense Secretary Ash Carter has announced the transgendered can serve openly without fear of being discharged.

Under the Constitution, the Congress is supposed to make the rules and regulations for the Armed Forces. Article I, Section 8, clause 14 says, “The Congress shall have Power To …make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces….”

Our media reported the policy change without explaining on what basis, legal or constitutional, the change was made.

CNN simply said Carter had removed “one of the last barriers to military service by any individual,” and that he “had been studying the issue for almost a year.”

The New York Times said, “The decision pushes forward a transformation of the military that Mr. Carter has accelerated in the last year with the opening of all combat roles to women and the appointment of the first openly gay Army secretary.”

On what basis, however, can Carter or his boss Obama “transform” the military? The original ban on homosexuals in the military was changed through congressional action. There has been no congressional lifting of the ban on the transgendered.

Columnist and radio commentator Bryan Fischer noted that “President Obama and the Pentagon have violated the Constitution and committed an impeachable offense by unilaterally admitting transgenders, transvestites, and transexuals into the military.”

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council noted that the enormously unpopular and disruptive policy is being implemented “without Congress’s approval.” Such a move has constitutional and legal implications.

House Committee on Armed Services Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-TX) issued a statement questioning the change, but did not assert the constitutional requirement that the new policy be approved by Congress before taking effect. Once again, Congress has abdicated its responsibility.

This is, of course, no concern to the NLGJA, which monitors the media to make sure not that the Constitution is followed but that the demands of the gay lobby be met.

Thornberry says that “when we learned DOD was looking at new policies on the service of transgender individuals, the Committee posed a number of questions to DOD. In particular, there are readiness challenges that first must be addressed, such as the extent to which such individuals would be medically non-deployable. Almost a year has passed with no answer to our questions from Secretary Carter.”

How’s that for an executive branch out of control and showing complete disdain for Congress?

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, called for hearings, saying that the military “is facing historic readiness shortfalls, putting our service members’ lives at greater risk.” Instead of addressing these problems, Inhofe noted that the Obama administration is “forcing their social agenda” through the Department of Defense.

Inhofe did not question the legal or constitutional basis of what Obama and Carter had done.

Perhaps a hearing will attempt to answer the questions posed by Roger Severino of The Heritage Foundation:

  • Will biological males who identify as female be subject to physical fitness requirements for men or women?
  • Will they be required to do 35 pushups or 13 pushups to pass basic training?
  • Will American taxpayers be required to pay for expensive “sex reassignment” surgeries, including breast implants in men and shaving down Adam’s apples when that money can be spent on better weapons or more training?
  • Will service members who have addressed an officer as “sir” for years be booted out of the military if they refuse to address him as “ma’am?”
  • Wouldn’t the loss and impact on recruiting offset any supposed gains of allowing a relatively few transgender troops the ability to dress according to their chosen identity?

One of these questions has already been answered. Carter said that by October 1, 2016, DOD will “create and distribute a commanders’ training handbook, medical protocol and guidance for changing a service member’s gender in the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System (DEERS),” and that the services “will be required to provide medically necessary care and treatment to transgender service members.”

At a briefing, Carter said, “The transgender individual, like all other service members, will get all medical care their doctors deem necessary.”

None of this is a controversy for the major media, which finance the NLGJA and do not dare question this radical sexual agenda. As reported extensively by Accuracy in Media, the NLGJA holds conferences and fundraisers on a regular basis that are sponsored by all of the major news organizations.

A benefit for the NLGJA in New York featured what the group itself called “some of the biggest names in media.” They included:

  • Don Lemon of CNN
  • Tamron Hall of NBC
  • Simon Hobbs of CNBC
  • Alisyn Camerota of CNN
  • Christine Romans of CNN
  • Poppy Harlow of CNN
  • Harris Faulkner of Fox News

A more recent benefit event for the NLGJA in Los Angeles was sponsored by Comcast/NBC Universal and CBS News.

If members of Congress challenge this “transformation” of the military and assert their legislative powers, they would be going up against two of the most powerful interest groups in the country—the gay lobby and the major media.

So they take the easy way out by asking a few questions and meekly requesting hearings.

It’s difficult to know which is declining at a more rapid rate—the morality of the country or the relevance of the U.S. Constitution. Perhaps they are both hitting rock bottom at the same time.

Are we paying our Congress to take the easy way out on any issue? I say “NO”! If the people don’t harass the hell out of them they will continue to lay down for Obama, why is another dark question, that the next president (if not another Marxist) must find an answer to!

  • RMThoughts

The irony of the Military paying to have their own soldiers castrated.

  • D. G. Williams

Absolutely absurd. I am speechless, what next?

  • TPS12

congress nothing more than a room full of fools, no backbone, no integrity, no brains just self-serving politicians.

  • BakkenBill

The fact the VA isn’t able to provide adequate care to combat veterans makes this entire circus deplorable! This president and his people are making a laughing stock of this nation, its military, and it’s government.
Will those who object to serve with these mentally deficient individuals be granted a honorable discharge? Of course not, it isn’t “politically correct” to acknowledge the rights of our brave men and women who may prefer their Christian values over this sad government.

“WAKE UP AMERICA”!!! Have we all lost our common sense?!

  • rivahmitch

I note that this slimy POS Sec Def has never worn a uniform nor has it heard a shot fired in anger. I sincerely hope it has that latter opportunity in the near future. Semper Fi!!

Next thing you know the military will be injecting a few pink additions to the standard uniforms in camo fashion.

Seems to be exactly what Cliff Kincaid’s much admired and often quoted Michael Ledeen, described by the Jerusalem Post as “Washington’s neoconservative guru,” is talking about when describing the s neoconservative agenda at home and abroad:

….. “Creative destruction is our middle name, both within our own society and abroad. We tear down the old order every day, from business to science, literature, art, architecture, and cinema to politics and the law. Our enemies have always hated this whirlwind of energy and creativity, which menaces their traditions (whatever they may be) and shames them for their inability to keep pace. Seeing America undo traditional societies, they fear us, for they do not wish to be undone. They cannot feel secure so long as we are there, for our very existence—our existence, not our politics—threatens their legitimacy. They must attack us in order to survive, just as we must destroy them to advance our historic mission.”

Cliff wants to have his neocon cake and eat it too.

Our Military is there for one Purpose and one Purpose only! That is to win wars and to do so with as few of us Dying as possible! Pink Dresses will not get this done! Neither will cutting a guys Nuts off help in any way! How many years does it take to heal a man that is no longer a man? PTSD doesn’t begin to describe what happens when he realizes that he Messed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tedscott4

None of us are upset that Diabetics aren’t allowed in the military, because of continuous medical care and increased health risks. How is a Trans any different ? They require daily hormone shots, regular blood testing for those hormone levels. Also follow up surgery and all the medical costs associated with changing sexes. It is against everything that the military requires for a healthy soldier, airman, or sailor.

  • HazumuOsaragi

    They require daily hormone shots,

Where do you get your information from? There’s hormones in pill form and transdermal patch form. And if someone opts for shots (cheapest,) it’s only once every two weeks.

regular blood testing for those hormone levels.

‘Regular’ is once a year or once every two years after transition is completed, and can be done at the same time they do other routine, ‘regular’ blood chemistry checks.

  • HazumuOsaragi

Our Military is there for one Purpose and one Purpose only!

    “This is my rifle,
    This is my gun…”

  • @tedscott4

There is no safe oral testosterone, most people can’t use T Gels, poor absorption. No one takes hormone shots every 2 weeks, well OK, in the 80’s they did. Current best practice is 2 to 3 times a week, with low SHBG levels, daily injections may be indicated.Blood testing should be started at 3 to 4 weeks, when stable, increase until at 4-6 months. Military life is never stable, (who would have steady adrenals?) so, hormone levels would , more than likely, be all over. Bottom line, I do understand Endocrinology, costs for Trans are significantly higher than diabetics. No way are they conducive to military life.(USAF Vet- Medical corp)

  • @tedscott4

‘Regular’ is once a year or once every two years after transition is completed, and can be done at the same time they do other routine, ‘regular’ blood chemistry checks.”
If you are an MD and only testing once every 1 to 2 years, shame on you for such blatant medical neglect.

  • HazumuOsaragi

If you are an MD and only testing once every 1 to 2 years, shame on you for such blatant medical neglect.

Links, please. Seriously, if you have information on the intervals for hormone blood testing, post the links here. If, as you say, it would be medical malpractice to test at such a long interval, then it would be wrong for you to not share your information.

  • @tedscott4

You do your own research, I did look up the top 10 google postings on Transgender Therapy, and I am correct, on testing schedules. Some guidelines are still quite outdated, and people who are on therapy understand better than most MDs.

  • @tedscott4

Bottom line, Transgender individuals are not compatible with military life, not if Diabetes keeps you out. DM is a quite safer disease to monitor and treat, and yet the military recognizes there are risks not worth taking. Stop changing the focus onto the medical needs of Trans people., and back to the real topic, Diabetes is easier to treat than Trans therapy, so both are not elligible for enlistment. I assume you are neither a medical person, or a veteran.

I want to go into the military as Daffy Duck and demand that I get the appropriate treatments.

  • @tedscott4

I know you can guess his background without much effort. No military, yeah from academia, specifically a Harvard professor.

  • Dave

    Yes, obviously!

  • Dave

Agree! I would also argue that our military should provide all (and necessary) medical treatments to maintain the health and operational readiness our our service members. I question the “medical necessity” of plastic surgery, hormone treatments, etc. that are only “elected” or “requested” by an individual service member in order to satisfy their “sexual reassignment” desires. I cannot see how such medical expenses should be the responsibility of military medical personnel. If anything, the individual service member should pay all cost themselves and be required to prove the procedures don’t effect their operational readiness. If detrimental to military suitability, they should be discharged as other than honorably, just as drug abusers are.

  • Dave

In the late ’60s we were asked to sign-in at the messhall to show we weren’t collecting “separate rations”. After reading Catch 22 in the back of our C-130 returning from SEA, I began signing as “D. Duck”, “E. Fudd”, etc. on a rotating basis. No one ever checked or called me out. Go figure!

  • Dave

I sure wish we had a presidential candidate with understanding of the military – industrial complex like Eisenhower! I met Ike as a child at Hickam in ’58, in the Territory of Hawaii. My WW-2 veteran father loved him as Commander in Chief. He knew how to maintain military strength and reign in the corporate profiteers.

Amoebas of the world unite! Let us make our demands and become as one.

  • HazumuOsaragi

First, I stand corrected. The interval for labs for transgender people in the maintenance phase is yearly, biennially is not currently recommended.

    You do your own research

I have, which is why I’m calling you out on your faulty, biased, cherry-picked ‘research’. I wanted you to provide your links so I could see where you got your information from. I might actually learn something new from a link you provided, which might cause me to re-evaluate my understanding of the topic. Instead, I get You do your own research, a.k.a. because-I-said-so

When you went to [GOOGLE], did you go through an anonymiser service? [GOOGLE] knows you, and feeds you the results you want to see, based on your past searches and which links you followed. Try [DuckDuckGo] or a [GOOGLE] search through the anonymising site [STARTPAGE], and your results will be different.

I do understand Endocrinology | (USAF Vet- Medical corp) – Appeal-to-authority fallacy. Provide your links.

I assume you are neither a medical person, or a veteran. – Strawman fallacy. The first half is also a no-true-Scotsman fallacy, and my blue DD Form 2 busts the second half of your fallacy.

    Let’s reiterate your claims:

They require daily hormone shots, regular blood testing for those hormone levels | No one takes hormone shots every 2 weeks, well OK, in the 80’s they did. Current best practice is 2 to 3 times a week, with low SHBG levels, daily injections may be indicated.

I think your focus on injection for administering is unhealthy. For male-to-female, there’s also oral and transdermal patches. For female-to-male, there are transdermal patches. So it’s not like soldiers/sailors/airmen/marines are stuck (pun intended) having to poke themselves biweekly.

The below links recommend that if the person is using injections to administer hormones, that it be done every two weeks to start, and only made every week if the cyclical blood hormone variations are not well tolerated. They also have information on lab monitoring during induction and maintenance phases.

Lots of information here, including this excerpt:

“Once hormone levels have reached the target range for a specific patient, it is reasonable to monitor levels yearly, or only as needed as described below. As with other situations involving maintenance of hormone therapy (menopause, contraception), annual visits are sufficient for transgender women on a stable hormone regimen.”

@Ted, I understand the point you were trying to make.
@ Hazumo, do you sincerely not understand why TG folks are not well suited for the military?

Let’s debate again upon your return.

The option to Christianity was originally established when the Sanhedrin, in Jerusalem opposed the teachings of Christ. The Orient consist of lands east and south east of the Mediterranean sea. With no imagination the U.S, Supreme Court is in an alliance with Esau’s hatred of Shem.

Remember, presidents lay their left hands on the old testament. Here lies the trickery of leaving Christ out the picture. The new testament was not included, and this left Christ out. The majority of Christians in America don’t comprehend that Christ is working with his people in all areas of holy intervention, while under the direction of his father, the creator. Actually, the swearing in is before a God and leaving Christ out. Satan’s agents pull the wool over innocent people’s eyes. America is now under Marshal Law !

Consider that after our Lord was put to death, within one-hundred years our Lord and his apostles were deceased. There was no authority, or divine intervention, as the gospel had been taken off this earth. We go into revelations and John declares this–frightening ! Sixty thousands guillotines are stored within Georgia & Alabama.

The teachings of Christ had slowly waned, as oriental nations brought forth being spiritually corrupted, in establishing new gods. For instance consider Mohammed, as Allah their god. There are hundreds of oriental gods all over Asia. These worshipers deny that Christ is a God, but that he was a good man, in falling into the hands of state hierarchies aiding via funding their people’s ability in persue such idolatry. These so-called gods are circumvented into oriental thought structure, and of which a culture desires. Religion and physical slavery the psychology of ultimate rule. This eastern-world philosophy is counter to western civilization. Marshal Law signs & federal troops imported into Chicago.

Actually, fundamentalism is a basic orientation of the eastern way of life. America has been flooded since 1812 with most emigres from eastern Europe. Communism took root in the eastern end of New York City. This gang was funded by Rocker feller and Rothschild.
No doubt about it, all religious organizations in America are man-made. All we have rt do is to listen to their spiritual oratory, in order to discover another world of alien investments out of Asia. Think of it. These tutored ministries receive tax-free immensities from the federal reserve, Yes, bought and sold by honorable citizens, as to the methods of Satan, as well-planned in advance. The religious formality within America has been sealed, covered over, screwed down, nailed down, and berried. By police authority, five states confiscate money & property from travelers. No, warrants, and through brutality. Robbery at most !

Twisted and simple-minded souls are suckered into following the new version of the bible without comprehending that Christ dealt with his kinship all through the old testament,
Yes, every president yields to the old testament God, while disregarding Christ. Of course, the state of Israel agrees-one God only. It is imperative that citizens realize that Marshal law is creeping into many states.
Federal law makes have amended any Constitutional source of guaranteed protection. Traitors within most states are aiding & abetting the eventual Bolsheviki take over of this Republic. The United Nations occupy America in using Home Land Security in bringing innocent citizens into alien anti-Christ mental & physical bondage. There is no place to hide !

  • Aint So

Being ruled and defended by our enemies and enemies of human nature is not an altogether comforting thought. A failure in competence to identify the proper employment ones own natural plumbing rather than mutilating it does not instill confidence that that same individual may competently identify an enemy or even a friend for that matter.

  • Lee Berry

As pointed out by BakkenBill, the VA isn’t providing for combat vets, and others (claiming budget problems?). During my 40+ years as a military/ret. spouse, we were under TRICARE for most of the time. Trannies getting a sex-change operation under gov care? Wow, enlisted personnel and their dependents were not allowed elective surgeries such as plastic surgery for vanity reasons…and definitely not breast implants or reductions. As time has passed, there are even more restrictions upon what is allowed under TRICARE. ‘Feel-better tranny’ operations should be one of the many disallowed/not covered services – – but then again, I read that prisons are also leaning toward it as well. The weird part is, in medical research it is found that the suicide rates increase after having sex-changes. Someone please tell me HOW these delicate flowers can possibly HELP in dangerous conditions. AND – – please explain to me how a tranny is effective as a soldier when the 1st and foremost thing on its mind is its sexual preference (bedroom activities).

  • Sonnys_Mom

The radicals truly believe they “know better than all those stupid, narrow-minded little people” (translation: ordinary Americans, people like you and me). They view themselves as “the progressive vanguard”, leading the way to the edge of the cliff.

The real question is: Who is more powerful– the American people or a bunch of nihilistic radical elites? Make no mistake: “progressives” manipulate our legal system and play on the sympathy of others, but their true purpose is to destroy the “American experiment”.

  • Sonnys_Mom

Imagine, in the middle of the Afghan desert, one member of an 8-man SEAL team being assigned to carry the mini-fridge that stores the daily hormone injections? Ludicrous!

  • Sonnys_Mom

  • @tedscott4

Even worse, wonder who will pack that frig in when half the team is female?
The social experimenting that is going on with this military is disgusting, and serves no military purpose. Integrating the military after WW2 is one thing, but allowing people who are no suited to the military life is another. Just like gays suggesting their “struggle” is similar to the Civil Rights Movement, is wrong, so is suggesting a tiny minority of citizens with mental health issues should be integrated into the military at all levels,

  • HazumuOsaragi

“Better late than never,” I suppose…

  • eagle keeper

Ya know, our military isn’t a social incubator for degenerates. It has but one purpose. That one purpose is to blow $hit up and kill people. By a show of hands, how many would like one of these lost souls in a fox hole with you during a firefight? With the UCMJ regulations, isn’t there a clause where it says that a uniformed individual can disobey unlawful orders? This sounds like a good case to implement same!!!

  • eagle keeper

Transgenderism should be an automatic disqualifier for admittance to any of our armed forces. Fully realising that from the beginning of time they have been with us in one form or another. Well they should have stayed in the closet. The rest of America is concerned with just one thing. Having an effective military and a commander in chief who is in it to win it. We sure don’t need another appeaser at 1600.

  • eagle keeper

    Amen to that!!!
