Accuracy in Media

Steve Malzberg of Newsmax TV calls people like CNN’s Margaret Hoover “phony Republicans” or RINOS (Republicans in Name Only). I prefer the term “fake conservatives.” Whatever we call them, the effect is still the same. By spouting liberal nonsense, they misrepresent the views of most Republicans or conservatives. Hoover joined her fellow CNN panelists in a “Hands up, don’t shoot” display based on the fiction that thug Michael Brown was surrendering to the police when he was shot.

Unfortunately, we have to add another name to the list of fake conservatives—George Will, who has been drifting leftward for years.

Over at National Review, once considered a flagship conservative publication, Will has a column on the Marxist dialectic in which he complains about too many people in jail or prison. He repeats the liberal canard about the U.S. being “a country with 5 percent of the world’s population but 25 percent of its prisoners.” Veteran crime writer Michael Tremoglie says the figure reminds him of the environmentalist claim that America has five percent of the world’s population and uses 25 percent of its resources. The purpose, of course, is to suggest there’s something radically wrong with the American system, and that we have to answer to the rest of the world for our sins.

Tremoglie says that Will’s figure about alleged “overcriminalization” apparently originated with a left-wing lawyer. I found it cited by sources such as the NAACP and the Drug Policy Alliance. But when you seriously think about it, the figure, even if true, only conveys the basic notion that we have a criminal justice system that works. After all, anybody who watched what happened in Ferguson, with the riots and looting that followed Michael Brown’s shooting, has to know we have a criminal element in America. In that case, most didn’t go to jail.

Similarly, the figure about having five percent of the population and using 25 percent of the resources is actually a commentary on our successful economic system. Energy use reflects a modern economy that provides growth, not only for the American people but the world. Why should we be apologizing for that?

Like Hoover, Will abandoned the conservative ship years ago when he embraced the radical gay rights movement. In 2010, Will endorsed gays in the military on the ABC show “This Week” and smeared supporters of the Pentagon’s homosexual exclusion policy as unintelligent. That same year I noted that Hoover had joined the advisory council of GOProud, a so-called “gay conservative” group whose chairman, Christopher R. Barron, has a history of working for “centrist Republicans.”

Since that time, Will has joined the Fox News Channel as a commentator. Earlier this month, he jumped to Hillary Clinton’s defense on Fox News Sunday, after she had said we should be “respectful” and “empathize” with our enemies. Will gave a contorted explanation, concluding that “She was saying nothing particularly controversial, but she was saying it in an unfortunate way.”

On the December 14 “Fox News Sunday” program, he not only adopted the Senate Democratic narrative about the U.S. using “torture” against terrorists, but went off on a tangent, saying, “I hope the argument we are having about torture is going to seep over into domestic life because there’s a widespread practice in American prisons nowadays of prolonged solitary confinement, which has deranging effects on people and is, I think, indistinguishable from torture.”

What accounts for this unexpected attack on the prison system for isolating hardened criminals? It is apparent that George Will has fallen under the spell of some liberal somewhere. Criminals in solitary confinement are considered dangerous to others and are isolated for that reason. Curiously, Will says they are being tortured. As someone who understands the power of words, Will must know he is distorting the language.

Will has completely flipped traditional conservatism on its head—from sympathy for the crime victim to sympathy for the criminal.

Stranger than his leftist mumbo jumbo was how he began his column on crime. He wrote, “By history’s frequently brutal dialectic, the good that we call progress often comes spasmodically, in lurches propelled by tragedies caused by callousness, folly, or ignorance.” He went on to cite “the grand jury’s as yet inexplicable and probably inexcusable refusal to find criminal culpability in Eric Garner’s death on a Staten Island sidewalk…”

The “dialectic” is associated with Karl Marx, who saw history progressing through stages of conflict. Why on earth is George Will using such an approach?

We have commented on the Garner case many times, noting that the “chokehold” used by the police officer on Garner wasn’t a chokehold, and that he made the arrest by the book. Nevertheless, Will is fine with the liberal narrative, just as Margaret Hoover embraces the left-wing “Hands up, don’t shoot” fiction about Michael Brown’s death.

These are cases of Republicans/conservatives who have decided, for whatever reason, to spout liberal nonsense. That’s fine. But please call them liberals when they do that. And why not hire real conservatives to give some balance to the discussion?

I told Steve Malzberg this is why Newsmax TV and other alternative sources of news and information are getting more viewers by the day. People don’t like to be lied to about who or what represents the conservative point of view.

Unless They agree with no bushs or Clintons, I write them off as RINO Liberals. We need to nominate and elect Scott Walker President in 2016.

  • We also knew Will was a closet liberal with a large vocabulary to sound learned. His actual intelligence can only be lacking, having the views he does. Liberalism as defined today, is something of a mental problem. There is a strange, illogic in thinking “liberalism” through. It can’t be done by someone who can reason normally. To obtain a positive outcome from professing liberal pap, is quite simple until you put it under a microscope and attempt to dissect it. Our thought is that besides Will being an atheist, he may have a boyfriend. Sex creates confounded reasoning and seriously this may have induced Will to moderate his views ?

  • Ted

In this modern day, the whole notion of “conservatism” is “fake”. It’s REAL appellation is either plutocracy … or anarchy. Take your pick!

(“Neanderthalism” or “The New Feudalism” might work, too!)

  • Soxtory

One does not have to be anti homosexual to be conservative. The prison problem has vexed many for decades. Will is our most intelligent commentator since William F. Buckley left us.

  • Extirpates

Shawn Hammity would be near the top of the list.

  • rlqretired

Sex creates confounded reasoning is food for thought. Haven’t thought about that before but Wills evolution into liberalism has evolved from something.

  • Tuxedo_Plowboy

Why would you say this? To create further confusion?

  • Tuxedo_Plowboy

Thanks to NEWSMAX and The Blaze for breaking through the liberal barrier of honest news and information reporting. Keep up the good work!!

  • John Cunningham

First we have Republicans then, Conservatives, one has nothing to do with the other. Republicans have many faces and most are two. You have Liberal Republicans for which Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford were. Today we have the Bush Brothers and both are under that label.

I would rather see Mitt Romney as president before Jeb Bush. Now don’t get me wrong jeb Bush was an excellent Governor but, we need a strong leader, one that doesn’t have to explain his or her Conservatism. I am still a Sarah Palin fan but, she has been literally destroyed along with her entire Family.

Jeb Bush is person Liberals could live with and that is the reason his name is being bandied about. If he ran against Hillary, he would be butchered by Liberals and their cohorts the Mainstream Media. I don’t think he could stand up to the withering fire. Just another McCain or Romney, he would loose.

  • jaimelmanzano

George Will is a member of the “glittering literati.” On issues, he tends to be “none of the above.” He marches to his own drummer. The major parties do not define themselves emotionally on sex preferences, jailings, or manners in dealing with spouses of presidents. On unfunded liabilities, regulatory excesses, and governmental overreach, I think Will is on the “tsch, tsch” side, preferring less . He is erudite with respect to baseball. American politics, to him, is common and messy. He entertains, occasionally distastefully, like most media pundits. Lay off him.

  • Rene Guerra

Hey, Kincaid, my most effusive thanks for writing this, and for writing it with the overall class that characterizes your writing.

Will is the elitist-conservative* who, on January 15, 2009, hosted a wining, dining and worshiping for Obama at his (Will’s) home in Chevy Chase, MD, in what, for all practical purposes, was the equivalent to what in the middle ages, people referred to as “Witches’ Sabbath” (Google it).

*– Elitist-conservatives = Perfunctory-conservatives or “girondist” conservatives, who embrace conservatism from their marble towers, which they keep meticulously shrouded within a thick and well engrained mesh of Ivies of hubris and patronization . For all practical purpose, they deem their “conservatism” mostly only as an intellectual exercise to just “debate” the Left, with no serious intentions to defeat it, but practically just to live in a détente with it, in an illusory “peaceful-coexistence” that could have been afforded during the bucolic times of yore, when the hardcore-Left had not reached the overall power that now musters. These perfunctory-conservatives go through the motions seeking to be noticed by the Left with the main purpose of gaining accommodative coexistence with it as members of the political sector of the American version of the Soviet Nomenklatura: the political ruling class encysted mainly in Washington, DC. Another of their common trait is their hubristic disdain and visceral hatred of the Tea Party Movement and, particularly, grassroots-conservatives, whom they deem mere hoi polloi rabble.

Seven other elitist-conservatives joined Will in the Witches’ Sabbath: David Brooks, Charles Krauthammer, Paul Gigot, Larry Ludlow, Peggy Noonan, Michael Barone, and Bill Kristol. They all knew already at that time who Obama truly is ideologically…their elevated stature in the ideological right sector of the American intelligentsia makes it inherently de rigueur. Furthermore, they all are pundits; they make their living from peddling their sapience in ideological/political matters to us, conservatives. They definitely knew.

“Give him time!!! Give him time!!! Give him time!!! the eight came up clamoring from their shameless wining, dining and worshiping The Dear Leader. Read the report on the whole abomination at

Oh, no?, Come on? It is just mere happenstance that The Dear Leader hasn’t hurled his IRS attack mastiffs upon any of those infamous eight…all in stark contrast to the vicious attacks he has inflicted upon grassroots-conservatives, particularly those prominently active within the Tea Party Movement. Oh yes, a mere happenstance. My fat behind?! They have sold out.

Some of them feign remorse for the abomination; yes, it is just a feint. While, the ones, keep obliquely supporting The Dear Leader’s destructive policies (e.g., the unconstitutional Obamacare, and amnesty to illegal aliens), the others, openly keep springing up –like eels popping up from the mud at the bottom of the sea– in defense of vile hardcore-Left ideologue-operatives, such as in the case of Will “justifying” –joined in the occasion by Brit Hume, another Fox “contributor”– Hillary Clinton’s call for “respect for and empathy to” America’s enemies, and for/to the most heinous of them: Islamists. Well, the enemy of my enemy is my friend; and Islamism is the most important tactical ally of the traitorous domestic hardcore-Left in their common goal of harming the America the Founders instituted and constituted..

Bona fide conservatives –i.e., grassroots-conservatives– must be fully aware of all those fellows –like George Will– who sail around as conservatives; they are the enemy within conservatism, the finest expression of which is embodied in the grassroots-conservative genre.

It is grassroots-conservatives who, along with all others in the Tea Party Movement, who must position themselves at the point of the vanguard of the most patriotic and most urgent thrust to save America from jaws of the traitorous domestic hardcore-Left** in America and its allies (e.g., Islamists, RINOs, false-conservatives, leftist financiers and industrialists, etc.) and fronts (i.e, mos of: the “mainstream” media, academia, the intelligentsia, the arts and entertainment, organized labor, organized theology of “liberation” religion, et al)

**– The traitorous domestic hardcore-Left = The ideological marrow of the Democrat Party, with Obama at the very tip of its spearhead, By the way, for all practical purposes absolutely all other hardcore-Left organizations in America are mere decoys, mere lightning rods, purposely to divert attention from “the real thing”: the ideological marrow of the Democrat Party. They put up their face and their street-operatives’ (i.e., “community-organizers”, aka “agitators”) for the ideological marrow of the Democrat Party, so that the latter can spuriously claim “see, those are the Left, we are just the Democrat Party”. A very artful trick such is.

Well done, Kincaid, keep exposing them under the sunlight!!! America needs you do it.

  • Rene Guerra

Scott Walker and Paul LePage seem to be the two most qualified to rescue and rebuild America. Let’s keep an eye on them, and let’s scrutinize their political and personal past; we need a bullet-proof grassroots conservative as our (i.e., grassroots-conservatives’ and other non-leftists’) presidential candidate in 2016.

  • Rene Guerra

Alright, “one does not have to be anti homosexual to be conservative”, but one MUST be, HAS to be, anti-HOMOSEXUALISM to be conservative.

Homosexuality is an abnormality that comes along with nature, be congenitally or by choice; and as long as it is kept as such, who cares.

But, when some homosexuals use homosexuality as a fulcrum for ideology and politics, they practice HOMOSEXUALISM, whereby they attempt to pass homosexuality not only as normalcy but also as societally desirable and constructive, and, furthermore, to shower themselves –as a genre– with special privileges and power.

Worse, HOMOSEXUALISM has become a front of the traitorous domestic hardcore-Left in America, even, in some occasions, stepping up in support of Islamism. HOMOSEXUALISM is a tool to help weakening and destroying a America.

Conservatives have to be anti-HOMOSEXUALISM, but not anti-homosexuality, with the caveat –needless to mention– that one doesn’t have to like it, and, in this “the land of the free and the home of the brave” one can, individually, personally, perfectly dislike and even hate and abhor homosexuality…of course, without going further or farther to causing injury upon homosexuals.

However HOMOSEXUALISTS, as the enemies of America they are, they are open target…lawfully and peacefully, of course, in the arena of public discourse, at the ballot box, and in the courts of law.

Nobody in their right mind would talk about marxist dialectic and embrace liberal ideology, unless they were a marxist. Wasn’t it George Will who turned dime on the John Birch Society?

  • disqus_smWiOrvPtd

One word is the reason America is in a mess, and that word is compromise. As long as representatives will compromise once they get in office, it matters not what they promise their constituents. If they will compromise on the sodomite agenda, they will compromise on anything else.

  • Marla Hughes

    _Waves @ Mr. Kincaid_
George Will is not nor ever claimed to be a conservative. He is a libertarian. This article is perfectly aligned with his ideology. It’s the same he’s espoused since I first started reading him back 20 odd years ago.

  • M.j. Swanson

    great post

  • M.j. Swanson

Libertarianism from the right means you are a moderate=to a republican rino. From the left they proclaim it is conservative to be a libertarian, and leftists don’t much mind libertarians…(due to the fact liberals even know a REAL conservative when they see one and react viciously out of guilt.) In reality the terms Liberal, Libertarian, and Liberty even are misconstrued deliberately for wider appeal to the masses by the establishment leftists and rino’s.
What has annoyed the people the most is the willingness of some, such as Boehner to appear be-friending those which are destroying the US, and others compromising, and the comraderie which they appear to share is at the expense of the taxpayer, and the Constitution.
First check the voting history of a proposed candidate. If that checks out see how the leftwing media treats him or her. That can speak volumes. A litmus test. They can’t hide their animosity when a true Constitutional conservative appears. Remember how they treated S. Palin. The other tactic is do they ignore the candidate deliberately, out of fear for giving the Constitutional Conservative attention? if either of these are true the candidate seems to be checking out. The liberals will fall in line to the dog and pony show of the left.
The other issue is voter fraud. We need to remedy that with some kind of amendment, or legislation.
It was the 1960’s immorality revolution which has decimated the countries’ numbers (promoted by marxist ideological enemies, but follow the money, it was banks that profited from sky high mortgages due to 2 incomes in a family). The marxism of social security, welfare, food stamps, now the ACA gave the government control of our charitable finances and responsibilities, weakening a whole class of citizens to be non- productive, and non-participants in the American dream. So these combined leaves the door open for illegal labor, and voters, who to the marxists favor do not support the Constitution or citizenship. This is the story of robin hood prince of thieves, even using a catholic religious figure to add moral justification to a corrupt greedy cause.
So the love of money is the root of all evil.
